    • this is no surprize to me even tho im far from a reservation. my 15 year old daughter and 15 year old niece met and were propositoned for sex from a state native senator we have his naked pics where he showed the girls and nasty talk of what he wanted to do to them along with him saying you are 15 right it was turned over to fbi they turned it over to the tribal cops where he had some control it got brushed under the rug then finally us marshal got word of it and investigated but for some reason they stopped to saying they believe hes guilty without a reasonable doubt but proving it could be hard.i do not understand how much proof do they need, in the time since ive heard horrors stories bout rape on the rez there the senator also involved words spoken from a judge how he raped a 15 year old girl whos father reported it then was beaten he dropped charges.

    • It is the same in Canada where the native population has ballooned. The reserve is an open air prison, I'm not sure why anyone is surprised.

    • I wish Vanguard would repost all episodes before everyone stops coming to the site hoping to watch.
They are truly needed in this world of secrets and suppression of truths.

John Martin, we need more honorable warriors like yourselves on these reservations...Although,
Nothing is stopping the communities themselves from making violent criminals disappear, we have a saying amongst my large family.
"If the law wont take them, the wolves will. These woods are large."
Communities must protect themselves sometimes, its unnatural to rely on others for protection when you have a warriors heart.

My own opinion...well, everything we see here and in the future is the result of Governmental Genocide. Both by the US and Canada-->(I mean Britain, you know we/u arrre, look at our money.) Sanctioned by churches and businesses for the first 150 years of European conquisition of North America.

Honestly, the more I read about history, the less "patriotic" I feel.
And Frankly, this whole system now makes me feel sick.

I wish you all the best.

    • Well it has been a very hard year for myself , my children, and my family we experienced the worst pain imaginable, We lost MarQuita on Nov 1, 2009 due to domestic violence, she was beaten, hands tied behind her back ,shirt pulled up ,pants down to her ankles, and choked to death, all by her best fren who she gew up with ...... during this year i attended the transfer hearing to adult court where he pleaded guilty to 2nd degree murder, and then a sentencing date was set for Sept. 13th, 2010 1 pm. We attended the sentencing for this individual who not only was charged with my daughter's murder but while in custody was charged with several charges ,plotting to escape, posession of a shank, plotting to kill the gaurd. All this while in the custody of the U.S. Marshalls well. all I can say justice was served for my daughter that day, This individual dug his own grave by doin all this he recieved 48 yrs. and i was happy with that , because i earlier in the year had said i would be satisfied with A 50 yr sentence, because I wont be here when and if he is to ever get out. I know this boy I worked with him at the school.I helped him out with money, school work , I not only helped him out but his younge brother and sister with shoes , money I bought his little brother A tuxedo for his 8th grade graduation!! I just cant believe this happened. People still ask me to this day did they ever do anything about that house she was found in? and sadly i say no, We had her Memorial in Nov. 6th and our plan was to say prayers at this abandoned house well when we got there ,the sisters and brother nd frens of this individual that commitred the crime were partying in that house and yelling at us to go home, get out of here go home!!!! I was so hurt , So now I"m the bad guy here for wanting to say a simple prayer for my daughter? alot of bad things happened after that , that they started with my daughter she was jumped at a local gas station my daughter"s boyfreind was ganged and I witnessed it all!! one of the boys that was beating up my son in law dropped a gun all the boys were trying to grab it inc luding my son in law but they got it back! the store owner came out and broke it up. We went to the police station and filed charges on these people but they were never picked up nor was anything ever done about the gun. Thats justice on the reservation, the officer that took our statements was the rudest police officer I had to deal with since my daughter was murdered. Thats the story of our reservation and thats not even the beginning......... R.I.P. Marquita I will never stopped fighting for justice for you. In your memory I was accepted to A TRAINING TO BECOME A VICTIMS SPECIALIST. I WILL THINK OF YOU THE WHOLE TIME , I MISS YOU AND THINK ABOUT YOU ALL THE TIME LUV U...

    • It gives me hope that there are video journalists in the world today covering American Indian stories in our country. I would very much like to watch this episode.

American Indians and Alaska Natives, the people who give meaning to the land we live on beyond just cities and political governments, have been too often ignored and forgotten. These social issues (substance abuse, depression, violence, rape) are problems throughout our nation. However, without enough support and with historical trauma burdening their lives, Native Americans from all different tribes, face an up-hill battle against these problems. This fight directly relates with the conflict they face between their traditional ways and the overpowering influence of the modern world.

However, speaking is healing and listening is learning. So if more stories from First Americans can be brought to the world, there will be a better chance for positive change in practice and perspective. It can never be forgotten that many native people are living happy and healthy lives. And so finding the right balance between the positive and the negative is our responsibility as storytellers.

    • This is most unfortunate that while some good things are being done in the country, there are such vices as rape and other atrocities being perpetrated among poor and almost helpless individuals, many of whom have helped to shape the backbone of this country.

    • Another tactic the Democrats used was to tell Chechens they could get into the US and be hired to work for the US government without application for citizenship by helping get rid of the "Indian problem" in our communities of people who dont work for a living or do not have the same science skills that their group of expatriates from Russia have who were exiled to Kazahstan or Siberia in World War II for being supporters of Hitler. The Chechens are trying to claim that their language is similar to the Coast Salish language of Pacific Northwest Coast tribes so they should have the same aboriginal rights as we do and that we as their victims are someone to hunt down, convert our property into something belonging to Mihkail Prohkorov, Russian billionaire and new owner of the New Jersey Jets, who was arrested and evicted from France for promoting prostitution there, as some unscrupulous person to help them get rid of persons that have more right to be here on this continent than they do as nonIndian land or property owners due to our aboriginal rights here, that he has violated with impunity claiming he was hired by a group of persons in regions where Chechens have now settled to settle their grievances against the US for not getting aboriginal property given to them on arrival by claiming to be related. They were also told the same thing , only that they would get all of our estates as Yakamas, Nisquallies, and/or Cascade Chinooks ,if they would help the Democratic party make its members charged with crimes appear to be innocent or the victim of mistaken identity by getting rid of their" problems" as defendants in court cases so their victims would be dead and all their convictions just "go away". Their solution- murder their victims and make them afterwards appear to be guilty of the crimes they themselves actually had committed as a perpetrator. In the case of one unsolved homicide on the Yakama Indian Reservation, the victim, Joanne Wyman John's body parts were placed in a area of the reservation closed to the public to make it appear she had died of exposure there after going to a drinking party there and wandering away. A couple years ago the case was reopened and found to be a homicide as part of the remaining body parts were found in a freezer of a man claiming as a ward of the State of Washington that he had found them in the freezer department of a friends house when cleaning out the freezer to defrost it and noticed the package had what appeared to be a human torso in it, dressed in lingerie. When questioned, the person in custody said he had had it made for him to remind him of going out to White Swan and other places and finding no brothels or places of ill repute there to satisfy his needs so he created his own and catered to necrophiliacs and men who loved the smell of dead animals and rotten meat as carrion feeders. She was someone he knew from his drug using days as a person who was not very well off and liked to drink but could not hold her liquor so had lost her job in Tribal government and needed help with her finances every day so had a job as an undercover informant to take care of herself and her family that was discovered by him so he had her killed. The person they supposedly have in custody claims to be from Las Vegas, NV, but used to live on or near our reservation, and went to Nevada to legalize gambling, prostitution, and other violent crime on reservation in violation of the Major Crimes Act and the RICO laws. Every time we as tribal members or descendants are the victims of crime this man cannibalizes the money meant for victims support by claiming it should be spent on him and gay men cocaine meth and heroin dealers instead, arrested for hit and run homicides,so they can get their drivers licenses back by claiming to be the victims of mistaken identity, and take over and use our domestic violence and sexual assault services meant to protect women and children from abuse by men, on themselves so they can have sex in shelters and wait there to see if the charges against them will be dropped as drug dealers as a way to deal with the homelessness of their homes being seized for drug dealing.

    • Another thing the State of Washington did wrong is misdiagnosis my mental health situation when I applied for Social Security disability benefits while working for the Seattle Indian Health Board several year ago, a mistake that led to situations like this occurring where our identities as Native Americans keep getting switched with that of nonIndian perpetrators so that we end up appearing to be violent criminals as victims of the State medical system instead of Native people. For example, I was misdiagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic, when in fact I am a ritual abuse victim, and my head maimed as a result, It took years of work to correct the misdiagnosis, while a group of Nazis entrenched themselves in our state, making death threats tous and our children that we were people were passing on our bad genes to another generation to make them violent criminals as well, NOt true. The genetic code we do pass on to our children, like eye and hair color, and lactose intolerance as well as milk allergies, which I have to take medication constantly to alleviate, are the traits these group of bogus researchers at the University of WAshington and elsewhere tried to label paranoid schizophrenia, which would make almost every native american who is lactose intolerant appear to be mentally ill . The latest piece of irresponsible reaearch I read was that used cat litter with the toxoplasmosis parasite in it could be the cause of paranoid schizophrenia, due to the parasite infestation causing leaions like what are found in paranoid schizophrenics. My son and late father and I were maimed by a laser weaponry system located within a half mile of our homes, which had the effect of trying to make us like zombies, and the lesions and injuries caused by the device, not our genes or poor nutrition. As long as unscrupulous medical practices like this occur, criminal activity will never be stopped as some criminal will just find another way to make his victim look like they were mentally ill or made up being a victim to discredit the victims who do survive long enough to testify against their perpetrator.
Rape is a violent crime and part of the Major Crimes Act on reservation, not something that can be blamed on the victim or their genes, or anything they did.The more education the community gets on how to define rape, the less outsiders will be able to coerce anyone on our reservations to commit that crime and claim it was the victim;'s fault.

    • I tried to explain how dangerous my exhusband and his group of men and members of his political party are before and was censored, One tactic they use as rapists to try to get the last word was to misuse their Democratic party connections to claim rape is a crime which is the fault of women for making men want to have sex with them and that we as women should be taking their place and being raped by their boyfriends, like my exhusband's boyfriend from the Pine Ridge reservation who he claimed gave him AIDS, to make innocent women like me who had never even been to South Dakota before marrying him appear to be the cause of them having AIDS instead of their gay mens network and then have us kidnapped and taken back to their reservation to be sodomized by his friends under the guise of hostage taking of innocent people to make them pay for the crimes of his group of men who use meth and commit crimes in South Dakota, to make innocent people pay for their criminal activity. I am also someone who had to go through reconstructive surgery to repair the damage done to my uterus after being stabbed by a group of women who ganged up on me while pregnant and sliced my child's leg off to kill it because they tried to get pregnant with my husband and his adopted father's children who were paid to get them pregnant so they as nonIndians could have Sioux children. I also found out this past week that the crooked State of Washington paid Siouxes that they hired as claims evaluators for crimes against our tribes as perpetrators of crimes against our tribal members or descendants 1.5% of the sale of our estates as Yakamas as their victims , by pretending we as domestic violence victims were someone to investigate for illegal drug traffficking instead of real drug traffickers. as a way to get revenge and " get back all the money they lost being incarcerated for domestic violence and sexual assault" by making their victims pay instead of a drug dealer for the crime of drug trafficking. I am sure it would be appealing to poor people to do so, but it misled countless people that we as crime victims were material witnesses in criminal activity , which is not true, to rob us misusing police protective custody, Like I tried to explain before, the group where PACNET is located made it look like we were someone to hunt down to pay for Adolf Hitler's soldiers' meth addiction, which is not true as not alive then, and someone who .like Monica Lewinsky or Jennifer Flowers, seduced some married man who was an elected official, to have an affair, instead of their legally married wife who was beaten up on from the beginning of the marriage, My exhusband threatened to hang me the day after we got married if I put him in detox, while he had agreed to go before we got married in order to keep his SSI benefits and get his drivers license and control of his finances back, He was violent all the time when drinking and one time terrorized us trying to babysit his relatives' children to the point that the oldest child left , leaving me with the rest of the children trying to get him away from them so they would not get hurt by him while we were babysitting,So I hope the persons who raped and murdered your daughter do get brought to just and the revenge and counterclaims by people who have no right to interfere with reservation crime victims and their families as Democrats stopped from having us beaten up on and robbed in return for revenge. We had five law enforcement officers murdered last year in our state by their gang of felons taken out of prison early to manage property and have jobs, one of which was doing life in prison, who were told they had to protect us as exwives as though we had to testify against drug dealers as part of deferred prosecution, instead of a real drug dealer, How crooked can that be? Before I was beaten up by my exhusband, my father thought it was okay that we were married, and he was surprised that I was assaulted as the Siouxes were supposedly our friends, Friends do not beat up and rape and kill each other, no matter what political party as nonIndians shows up with some scheme to exonerate themselves from criminal activity at our expense as their victims andour families' expense as the persons losing their family members,

    • The judge who helped this gang of people murder my father took the ambulance used by PACNET to investigate and clean up meth lab sites in Pacific County without permission with a group of about 80 people all the way over to Yakima.WA to rob and murder my father and didnt bother to check in with the local narcotics task force there under the guise of not tipping off their suspect., They attacked him while he was at his opthalmologist;s office, yelling that he had violated his probation by leaving home, when in fact his ids had been switched with a Hispanic meth manufacturer from Raymond, WA. They beat him up in his opthalmologist;s office, then dragged him out to the waiting ambulance, then the judge, who was also an EMT, overdosed him on oxycodone which he shoved through an esophageal airway to try to make him appear to be a meth manufacturer who commited suicide rather than turn in his meth contacts, The person posing as an EMT who was a meth dealer placed in Pacific County by the Dept of Justice from the CA prison system for heroin and cocaine trafficking as part of the Cali Cartel, overdosed him on heparin, and a woman who worked for the Dept of Corrections in WA State, overdosed him on formaldehyde and sodium thiopental sulfate, which is what they use in the prison system to execute inmates on death row, causing him to have a heart attack, The fourth person who assaulted him used a dildo to sexually assault him and punctured his bowel, yelling that his dirty rear end and retard daughter, referring to me, were not going to keep them away from his property , He died in the parking lot as they transferred him to another ambulance they called, pretending he was a meth addict and manufacturer they had arrested and were transferring to Western State Medical Hospital in WA , which does not exist, as kidnappers, when he died, they then stole his car. went to his house, had my mon institutionalized and stole their living room furniture and contents of their gargage pretending it was a drug manufacturing site to clean up, instead of elderly couple's home. The judge who killed him said that he was just a dumb old man and that it didn't; matter, but that is not true, as he was a career Federal employee who spent most of his career teaching heavy equipment operation and maintenance, auto mechanics, and welding at Fort Simcoe Job Corps and touched many peoples' lives by teaching them skills they could use to be selfsupporting,He also got custody of my son away from his father's side of the family who were drug users so that he could finish high school, Every time we try to do something ,the same racist group from Pacific County show up to rob us claiming that we somehow as Native people have money or income or job skills or something that they don't have as nonIndians which gives us an advantage which they want to steal by extortion or conversion to use to make money for themselves and their investigations of crime instead of the purpose for which it was intended, for our own personal support, For example , this month my rent check to my landlord was stolen and cashed in Southern California at CalPoly in San Luis Obispo to use to pay for someone to become a member of PACNET"S auxiliary posse and buy a horse with the money to use to ride in rodeos and posse functions to use to set a good example to youth to stop using meth. They planned to make me appear to be a Columbian drug trafficker and member of a riding group there and the reason I did not live in the US anymore as a missing person is that I had been deported back to Columbia. I do not speak Spanish well enough to pass for a South American, and the same judge who set this up based it on his first impression of driving through the Yakama Indian reservation that it reminded him of Bolivia, even though none of our mountains are that high and no coca plants could grow on our reservation. God knows what this gang of people put down as their first impression of the Rosebud Reservation- maybe Mexico?

    • As far as God sending our loved ones back to us once they leave to go to heaven, I have never seen that happen. In my experience other people sometimes show up to try to fill the void left by their death, but they can only bring themselves to fill it, not the loved one, I lost a child in 1997 due to domestic violence who would have been 13 this year, and I lost a child in 1980 who would have been 30 this year, and my life I am sure has been worse for the loss of them. I also have a crooked exhusband and his group who tried to make me as an allergy suffferer appear to be the source of meth manufactured and trafficked to people like Leroy Anderson and Glen Markus Walker who are deceased and in the South Dakota State Penitentiary for kidnapping and raping and murdering women in South Dakota while using meth, to incite people to commit criminal activity against my family. It would be pretty tough to see how we could be the cause of South Dakota crime as Washington State tribal members and descendants who had never been to South Dakota until 1996, but that is how crooked my exhusband and his group are, They had my father murdered by a group of people on deferred prosectution from Pacific County WA supervised by a judge Joel Penoyar who went all the way to Yakima and robber and murdered my father in December 2006 pretending he was a meth lab manufacturer who had violated parole instead of a Hispanic drug manufacturer from Raymond WA, and acted confused that they couldnt recall whether or not his middle name was Raymond or if he was from Raymond, WA as identity thieves totally out of control with a white supremist Nazi racist group from the State against us as Native Americans, calling themselves PACNET, promising they would hunt us all down to get our money given to the State as though we were the cause of Adolf Hitler and his soldiers being meth addicts. I wasn;t even born before the Korean War and my late father was only a child then and none of us are or were Nazis or suppliers of anything to Nazis, Maybe your daughter/s death was engineered by some faction of government over there that are the same racist groups against us out here as tribes, The year I stayed on your reservation after marrying my now exhusband, the tribal police who refused to forward my domestic violence police reports to the State or BIA to get crime victims compensation for me and help pay my medical bills were arrested for having sex with teenagers. My exhusband and his adopted daughter and her aunt, his exwife that same year discussed murdering me after I came back from WA State and tried to reconcile with him and failed, by making it appear I had given them my car and gone back to WA State by bus , as the reason for why they were driving my car,

Losing a child is so hard as that is a part of the future hopes and wishes by God for the person, family ,community , tribe and world that is represented by our future generations which is destroyed when that young person's life is taken prematurely by violence. If there were a miracle for your family to have your daughter's life back, I would hope and pray that that would happen for you.

    • I referenced alcohol and drug use as the underlying common factor in these rape instances because the two are often found in this particular environment...the res.

The idealogy in Muslim countries is framed around a society that believes that the male is the dominant species and thereby anything goes if he so chooses.
Its common in varying degrees in all cultures. Including ours...the white mans.

Religion often plays a primary part in these societies and it is my belief that its true message has become distorted to serve the perps in their heinous crimes against the weaker of the species...aka women, children, and the elderly.

I am not advocating violence. I am advocating education, awareness and a leadership based in fierce compassion.

One often must leave home in order to return to confront the insanity perpetrated on others. But return we must.
To teach others how to survive and thrive...solidarity is essential.

    • Rape happens whether sober or clean or not. Note that in Muslim countries, women are punished as rape victims for being in the same place with an unrelated man, and they do not drink. As an adult rape victim, I was counseled that it is a violent crime done to abuse , dominate, and humiliate the victim , and has nothing to do with sexual satisfaction, but to treat the victim like property.I was not drinking or using drugs when raped or even for years before it, but trying to recuperate from miscarrying. As a child rape victim all I was counseled to do was to run to get away, and put back together, and then of course as a child I was not drinking or doing drugs ,either. However, you are right that being under the influence makes it more difficult to get away, and loosens inhibitions to the point that you as the victim might think it was okay to go along with something rather than get beaten up that ,being sober ,you would not even be in the place or situation, and would never think it was okay to go along with beig raped to avoid being injured worse. Yes, women have to help other women, and men, and men help other women, and men, so that rape does not occur, by being teaching respect for oneself and one's life and body to not be put in the position to end up a rape victim, if possible, by staying away from dangerous situations and learning what can be done to defend oneself and get away.

    • What do you imagine the real problem is? Its the lack of female leadership!! The older women...the wise women need to show the younger ones the way. Failure is no option! These women need to form their own task force. For support, protection to stop the drinking, drugging that leads to the abuse, victimization, rape and death. Its time sisters! United you shall stand and be victorius...divided you will fall and become slaves! CHOOSE well!

...and religion. In Canada, Christianity was imposed upon First Nations citizens, forced through blood, sexual assaults, beatings, and psychological warfare. Today First Nations are among the most religious of Canadians, they have taken on the religion of the oppressor. They are still living between two cultural systems, they are caught between white religion, a xtian moral code, and "tribal justice" which is not equipped to handle the kinds of crime commonly committed by believers in supernatural. Once people live in a world in which a imaginary being rules the world, ugly things are bound to happen. IMHO most First Nations of North America are at a turning point in history, once again. They have a choice, turn back and embrace their historical spirituality, which was much saner, leave christianity behind as the evil it is, OR, or, integrate into society fully, and say goodbye to the romanticised view of their culture that has come to dominate the mainstream. I myself, if I were a First Nation woman, would vote to kick out xtianity completely and reconnect with a more nature based spirituality. Enough already with the "great creator who lives in the sky", it's complete nonsense. Us Caucasians have brought nothing but misery to the Americas First Nations.

I got raped on the reservation I come from after being a DV victim on the Rosebud reservation, and meeting women who got raped at Pine Ridge, The sad part is having to leave our reservations and families and be terrified to go back or be found for fear of being killed or my family members .what are left of them. just for being a victim and having someone arrested over assaulting me, so that my exhusband can get the rest of our meager family estate given to him and a group of felons and his mean adopted daughter to live off of, by lying about us. My parents were surprised that I got beaten up, too, as they thought the man I married respected me and our tribe, but when he was drinking he would think he was in Vietnam and do crazy things and the people with him who encouraged him to drink in violation of his tribal court order not to drink were impossible to deal with, as they either did not understand alcoholism or were on some rampage to abuse wives and children and drink and make it appear to be a right, He was not only mean to me, but to other women as well, such as his adopted father's exwife that I had to pull him off of while he was drunk and try to get him to leave her alone . Like I said I have a broken tooth, dead child, dead father, and countless bruises on my arms and black eyes and a broken nose that wasn't reset then that had to be reset later when I was jumped and punched in the face by my neighbors and my left jaw broken to remind me of what domestic violence and assault are from that reservation, and attempts on my life by the people I worked with trying to poison and kill me with food laced with rat poison that they brought to my baby shower while pregnant as a tribal employee and being raped there later on after miscarrying our child after trying to get into our tribal DV shelter , which is not well known like the White Buffalo Calf Woman shelter, to last me a lifetime. It is not a mark of pride to have had to use every domestic violence shelter from the Midwest on for help because of being beaten up by someone out of control, incited by a group of nontribal member gay men and women insisting that everything we have as Native women be given to them because they are the victims of discrimination and not allowed in the US military or employed where our women have been ,or allowed to participate in our tribal religious ceremonies which are for women only ,and threaten to shut down our religions or health care services or shelters claiming we cannot discriminate because of accepting Federal funds, as a political manuever to convert services poor women desperately need, into something that is used for some other purpose.

I am sorry to hear you have experienced violence in all it's ugly forms. Here's my advice to you. Are you comfortable handling a firearm? I know many women out here in L.A. that pack heat in their purses 24/7. Some are single mothers with small children to protect. Others work nights. One of my sisters carries a 9mm handgun for protection. If your life is being threatened or you feel like some violence is about to go down, esp. at night. A firearm can be a definite game changer. I have buddies that are members of the LAPD and they encourage their wives, sisters, mothers and even their nieces and daughters to carry a gun. Most gun shop owners are very experienced in helping female customers pick out a firearm that will be a perfect match for you. Many even let you test fire them before you purchase one. There are classes on how to spot the warning signals and then how to take the appropriate steps to ensure your safety. After all, we are talking about your life here, so this is an issue a woman with a violent past like yours to seriously consider. Men are stupid. They see a woman alone at night or even in the daytime and think they have an easy target for their perverted, twisted agenda. Once a man pulls a knife on you, then you have all the right in the world to defend yourself by whatever means necessary. And no jury in the world is going to feel any sympathy for the scum who are out there sexually assaulting women and young girls, on or off the rez. I would like to see more women even the playing field by carrying a firearm. Purchase one. Learn how to use it. Take self-defense courses that will assist you in all the variables inherent in an sexual assault/rape. Learn how to protect yourself. Unfortunately, we live in an increasingly sick society. The little rez gangs are proof of just how evil things have gotten out there. Any Sioux who needs to join an creepy gang to make themselves feel like men are really just afraid to confront life on life's terms. Gang members are definitive cowards. I have had the pleasure of putting a few in the hospital. Don't hesitate to pull out that .38 and if some drunk rez gang stooge is dumb enough to attack a woman pointing a gun at him. Then do all us Sioux a favor and put him in a grave.

      Good luck,

    • Thank you for reporting this information about the Wild Boyz and Wild Girlz. There is an older adult counterpart of this group that call themselves Sioux Boys, even though they are older, and the group my exhusband's brother refers to as themselves, that are also part of the problem. I reported some of the abuse I went through only to have tribal police not forward my reports or medical records to the State or Federal Government to get the situation resolved. Thirteen weeks ago I was knifed by a Chechen refugee who pretended to be my son to get into the building where I live and proceded to knife me in front of the manger;s wife, trying to cut out my tongue and spouting phrases from the Lone Ranger and Tonto that I had spoken with forked tongue because I wasn't paying his rent! He learned how to talk like Native people by studying old movies and TV shows. He referred to himself as a Chechen Boy and stated that since I had failed with Sioux Boys that maybe he could teach me a lesson in respect for men's rights over women. The stitches under my tongue and in my abdomen still haven't healed as he not only tried to cut out my tongue but evicerate me in revenge for not being able to live here for free like he thought all us do as Native people with US government benefits. Unfortunately , I am not as big as many Sioux women or my exhusband so could not figth back very well as also handicapped and the apartment manager's wife no help.why would she think anyone should be let into my apartment with the key after he tried to break in at knife point and failed is beyond comprehension, as my son would not show up at 4:00 am to do so.I was also assaulted by my exhusband's adopted daughter , his niece, who pulled up with a carload of women and tried to drag me to the car ripping my jacket and bruising my shoulder because they were mad I came back to testify as his victim on my own behalf for being kicked by him 10 days after we were married after he had been out with someone else, because they were going to take care of him. They did not respect the fact we were married and thought I wasn't as good as them as not a Sioux ,even though our tribal traditions are respectful of Siouxes, but different as Yakamas. It's pretty hard to compete with someone's own relatives who want to have their children and cook ,sew for them ,and bead for them and see wives from other tribes as interlopers instead of their aunt or stepmom. The man who raped me after being married to my exhusband from the Rosebud Tribe is a member of a gang calling themselves Rogue Nation, comprised of rogue cops, sex offenders, and terrorists, so they passed their victims on to the League of Chechen Terrorists as US immigrants to finish doing in if we managed to survive them. Solutions? Less fighting and more getting along with pride from inside, and respect for our differences too. I never got over being raped as the person who raped me had his brother follow me around under the guise of watching out for me, so I had to try to get help from my friends in another tribe to get a rape exam which failed and later set up a health care appointment just to get a rape exam. I felt terrified to dress nicely again for fear of being raped, even though my rape relief counselor gave me a brochure stating that it isn't the fault of the victim and how they dress or act that they get raped.Being raped by gangs just makes it that much more difficult to survive as the little brochures that tell you to keep your keys out and not park in dark places do not deal with gangs .

I saw this episode of Gangland. I have relatives out there on the Pine Ridge rez. Those little cowards calling themselves the "Wild Boyz" showed their true colors by hiding like scared little girls when the Vanguard cameras started rolling. The Wild Girlz are a joke. I left the rez when I was 5 and grew up in L.A. I grew up with hard core Hispanic and Black gangs. The Mexican Mafia, 18th Street, the Crips and the Bloods. The Wild Girlz are just drunken wanna-be's of something they will never be. None of them had the courage to speak up b/c they are the sex offenders that committed these crimes against our Sioux women. Don't worry, they will be caught and sent to prison, that's where those little shits belong. I am doing everything in my power to make this happen. I hope those fools read this. If you punks are reading this we are coming for you. You can run but you can't hide. We are going to show you what happens to rapists who violate our beautiful, innocent young women. Punk-ass bitches!

THE WILD BOYZ ARE FUCKING DRUNKEN COWARDS!!!!

My sister Cheryl told me this. Upon which I replied after agreeing with her:

I was thinking the same thought. Let them little cowards/sexual perverts try to pull their criminal acts of rape and violence against one of my sisters or my wife or the women in her family. They would get their balls handed back to... them wrapped in fry bread! I remember as a young kid playing football in the street and then watching my sisters jump out of the car and beat down some poor white-boy b/c he gave them the finger. I laugh at the memory of that day now.

Sioux women are strong and intelligent and beautiful. They are fierce survivors of 400 years of government sponsored ethnic cleansing. They are survivors of blatant state apartheid. It was the Lakota women that repopulated our people and kept us from the brink of extinction. To degrade them in any way not only shows a pervasive lack of respect for them. But also for the Lakota women who kept the tribes together during the "Indian Wars". And Lakota culture in general.

Behind every great Sioux warrior was a greater Sioux woman. She bred his children. Cooked his food. Made his clothes. This is why I have a problem with Native sovereignty. It allows stupid idiots to rape our women on the dysfunctional rez with virtual impunity. In the real world they would be sentenced to hard time in real state prisons. It's a travesty how drunken young fools perpetrate felony upon felony and act as if it's something to be proud of. Their crimes against humanity make me ashamed to be associated with a rez system that does absolutely nothing to protect their young women.

I came to the conclusion that Current had not mentioned that fact the reservation was dealing with gangland violence here. As we know it is prevalent everywhere and that there are task forces to deal with them. When I was watching this program I also wondered how the US Government was able to come onto tribal lands if the so called elder's where not taking care of business, yet where having meetings an entertaining making it their priorities to put it on the books to possibly tear down the abandoned houses while not relinquishing total rights over to the US Government to handle complete control over filing actions over the guys that had raped and killed this victim and gotten away it so far by intimidation.

If you all have a chance please go to TV Guide.com and look up Gangland episodes look for the Wild Boyz on June 4th, of this year 2010 they will allow you to view it for free. I think you will not be surprised by what you will see and hear, but it will help you to better understand the fear factor that these guys try to put on people on and off the reservation and they get a real kick out of doing so.....hugs nessa

    • The legend of the White Buffalo Calf Woman comes to mind as a way to teach men to respect women otherwise face supernatural retribution. Alcohol may have something to do with it,in terms of loosing inhibitions that otherwise would be working to stop someone from committing violence.I learned in counseling as a rape victim from the reservation I come from that rape is a crime to humiliate, abuse , and dominate another human being, Being raped and possibly faced with a pregnancy afterwards as a result even more difficult to deal with, or murdered afterwards in order to cover up the crime, are real consequences. How horrible that something that is supposed to be sacred devolves into something evil. Somewhere along the line our tribal teachings of abstinence and respect for other people's bodies got overrun by a society where anything goes and is okay, or people just shrug and say there is nothing they can do about it at the government level, even though it is a violation of the Major Crimes Act. Just like all the lobbying for organized crime to be made legitimate as a source of income for tribes, beyond gaming, to drug running and prostitution, with the intent that the victims of rape become part of a group of people forced into the sex industry for a living and it being legitimatized on reservation. I bet the people who forced our ancestors to sign treaties are laughing in their graves about the humiliation and abuse they are putting all of us through under the guise of making money.

    • As an enrolled member of the OST (Oglala Sioux Tribe) at Pine Ridge, SD I was appalled to see the ugly and senseless abuse committed against these defenseless Sioux women. Rape is not a victimless crime. The real crime is how the tribal council's of Rosebud, Pine Ridge and Standing Rock turn a blind eye concerning these violent human rights violations. After viewing Vanguard's "Rape on the Rez" I was shocked, embarrassed and ultimately extremely angry at the cowardice displayed by these little idiots inflicting such brutality against their own people. To see how much they dehumanize Sioux women was the final straw. The cowardice and stupidity of the young men on the rez, their callous attitudes, the way they have absolutely no respect for young Sioux women and girls is a serious, life threatening issue that's needs to be addressed by the tribal councils, the federal government, local law enforcement and the people responsible for these horrific felonies. The non-existent parents of the hoodlums that go about their useless lives on a rez that is already inundated with enough trans-generational social problems to last several life times. That one arrogant fool wearing the black "Billabong" shirt issued death threats as the cameras were rolling. I was so angry I literally wanted to reach through my TV and grab that ignorant loser and inflict some medieval street or rez justice on him. This injustice, the impunity in which the rapist/sex offenders get away with is one of the flaws of Native American sovereignty. They can basically do whatever they want to whoever they want. If those little creeps were treating women this way off rez they would be doing hard time in state or federal prisons. Then Vanguard could take their cameras into those prisons and see those young rez bums who rape innocent women for who or what they really are: Simple, drunken cowards who are under the false impression that raping a young girl is cool or makes them men in their warped, twisted minds. Any Sioux man who rapes a woman should be put away for life. Rape on the Rez is just another example of why the hyper-dysfunctional reservation system should be done away with.

    • On the reservation I come from, the Yakama Indian Reservation, our tribe built a police and clinic substation in one of our communities and trained several people, including my late father , to be EMTs and provide the emergency services that our community did not have before then as a way to help not only treat crime victims but provide lifesaving services to them that the nonIndian community did not provide. IF a substation of law enforcement with a clinic office were built in St. Francis , for example and staffed by people in the community, it might help reduce crime or at least address it with health care services. The Rosebud IHS clinic and hospital are very nice and useful - I went to the ER as a DC victim and had my broken tooth repaired as a result of being hit at the dental office, and the whole time treated oddly even though I am eligible for Indian Health Services as my late father was an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation. Another is to respect the rights of other persons and not consider them property, or claim that by raping them or hitting them that they belong to someone else. My exhusband, and his former wife and adopted daughter who also beat up on me as I ruined their system as former wife and niece to use his monies for their support by marrying him, routinely set up schemes to rob and murder me or members of my family in revenge for grievances that I cannot fathom being from another tribe, rather than just work with us and see what it is like to be our friends as Siouxes married into our family, and do the work he needed to do to stop drinking and get his drivers license back and control of his finances. It devolved into a very sad situation, as what is supposed to be love and support for one another devolving into hatred and violence. My former husband was sentenced to 15 years in prison the first year after we were married ,as his adopted daughter pressed charges against him with the Ogalla Sioux Tribe that he supposedly had sexually molested her daughter, which he claimed had actually been done by his nephew, and his statement appearing to be true, as he was incarcerated in Rapid City at the time so had no contact with the victim when supposedly one of the crimes occurred.I found out at one point in time they planned to kill me and make it appear I had gone back to Washington State and left them my car to use as an excuse for why I was not there. I don't know what they would done to explain to my family and people I know in WA State from my tribe why I was missing. We have that problem as well that people end up missing and sometimes are found deceased otherwise the investigation drags on for years with no resolution as their bodies are never found or they are cases combined with some intiative by the Dept of Justice and the BIA to investigate drug -related activity instead of homicides and missing persons so all the cases appear to be drug related instead of what they really are.

    • I tried to add a comment on what it is like to be married to a tribal member and the victim of physical abuse and violence at the hands of a man who was promised a deal by county government in WA State that he would get back all the money he lost being incarcerated for DV and Sexual assault by making his victims appear to be someone to investigate for illegal drug activity instead of his own family members and their contacts which led to them going to prison as drug couriers. After I was married and beaten up and lost our child a son who would have been 13 this year, I was raped by a man who told me I was lucky I wasnt hanging in the back yard the next day, He had studied all the domestic violence cases in WA State in the County where his brother resided and replicated them on our reservation , the Yakama Indian Reservation , as a copycat crime. His brother worked for the BIA in the county where the other domesic violence crimes were reported by their shelter workers there,They were both given a deal by nonIndians that they would get back all the money they lost being incarcerated for domestic violence or sexual assault by setting up making their victims appear to be someone to investigate for illegal drug activity instead of their own family members, Their group tried to make their victims appear to be someone to beat to death and interrogate over drug dealing by a group of gay or bisexual men . I went to rape relief counseling and domestic violence victims counseling paid for by the State of South Dakota as a crime victim there after being raped so know that it is a violent crime which has nothing to do with sex but everything to do with humiliating and abusing another human being.Being beaten up on reservtion , however is another issue , as the Rosebud Sioux Tribal police refused to cooperate with the State of South Dakota victims services office and forward the police reports to them that I had been the victim of onreservation crime so that my medical bills could be paid for by crime victims compensation, so that is a problem in my experience which if repeated with other women could make it appear that women have no recourse or options for damages.I am in the Address Confidentiality Program now for the victims of domestic Violence and sexual assault after being divorced from my exhusband but not without the loss of our child and the subsequent murder of my father by the same group of nonIndians promising my exhusband he would get back whatever he lost by setting up making us as the exinlaws appear to be someone to rob and murder instead of his own family members,His group of peoples' ties with the Democratic party made it appear that anything their party did was okay and that they would help them not go to prison or minimize the crime claiming their perpetrator was needed out of jail to help them out. or that their victims should help pay for their defense and deferred prosecution for whatever drug they were using while committing the crime that added to it, as though that were all that happened. We learn as victims that it is not our fault , that rape and domesitic violence are crimes to humiliate and abuse the victim and have nothing to do with being seduced or with starting a fight that led to the victim being battered. The White Buffalo Calf Women shelter staffhelped me when I had moved back to my home state and was in a new location to avoid being stalked back to home and my elderly parents murdered realize that I was not safe due to my exhusband's family, after my briefcase containing our marriage licencse and his will was stolen in my new location. I called them and they told me they thought that his family members had engineered the theft of my brief case and documents because they were jealous that I was put in his will to inherit his estate, but as long as we were legally married and he had a valid will, there was nothing they could do unless we both were dead, so I wrote a letter rescinding my interest in his estate and later that year filed for divorce to protect my family members from further loss, and tried to get the point across as Yakamas that we were not interested in inheriting his trust land and couldnt, and since our son had died, there was no one left to inherit anything from him and keep it in trust status, However the year we were married he had shown me an article about an effort to legalize inheritance of trust land by nonenrolled heirs with the caveat that it be placed in fee patent, taxable status, so I assume this is the deal being used to attack us and set up interdicting our property as crime victims instead of that of the criminal element. since land in fee patent status could be lost to the State,

    • I live in California and find that the native indians fight a so many social issue's, with very little developmental or technological upgrades or resources that are available around them. Why are these women not given the same rights as other women that are threatened by abusive men, REz or no. The monies that the tribal casino's are making should be spread around to all the tribes to help train groups of people in all area's of business, leadership, rehabilitation, community raising their small nation.

If the tribunal is going to claim rights then its rights should be made to do the necessary problem solving or step down and let those who are willing to do, do. I have think the women and their children should be taken off the rez and placed in a home with the support of people that know what they are going through and can help them and their child get on their feet and on with their lives.

About the Rez, we need to bring in training programs, and new green jobs. In hawaii we have started using the bamboo that grows in plenty to use as lumber. But we brought folks from the phillipines that knew how to work with the product. That is what should be done here on the Rez, give those that can train free housing and internship of sorts and have them train our kids to become well trained and exposed. Or give them scholarships and encourage them to go to other countries and encourage kids to come to the rez.

Baby steps, how can we have pride if we only know shame. Our women are important to caring for the future of our nation. Cannot have a 7th, 8th, generation if we are hurting, beating, demeaning and yes even killing them. In the end spending time in jail, prison, is not growing our people BETTER.

I am on my knee's praying, and working on ways to help us do something to help our people. After watching this show, I made up my mind to contact the Buffaloe Calf Woman and reach out to offer help of whatever I can do. I will also talk to my friends online and here in my town to tell them we need to do more. Thank You for sharing Marquita's Mom and family, sorry for your loss

This kinda of thing happens on the reservation but yet all these boys get to walk free and continue to do it every weekend. It's obvious that these boys had no one to love them are care for them like the rest of us do.It angers me that one of these boys can sit there and honestly tell the camera what happens word for word at these parties.Yeah where are there parental guidance why aren't these kids at home.Focusing on there education.
I pray for every girl on the reservation!!!! Hopen that none of them will ever get ripped out of there families lives, like my sister got ripped out of our world..
To see my sisters face look the way it did,it broke my heart into a million pieces.I never thought any would honestly do something like that to her.Why would anyone do that to anyone????She was the best friend anyone could ask for.She was a joy to be around, she could liven up anyones day with just her beautiful. She was gonna be somebody ,she wanted better things for herself. She had a plan in life she had goals like the rest of us do.Now she can't accomplish them because of someones actions.
I thank everyone who took the time to watch this documentary. My mother is a strong women to put this out there and to let everyone know what happens on the reservation.

    • There are many problems on the Rez. I know from a situation recently, that I contacted Indn Health Services, and the Tribal police about a domestic violence situation, which also includes rape. Indn Health Services is doing nothing, tribal police are doing nothing. I even pointed out the state law, concerning domestic violence, and still the person committing the crime is free. One other large problem on the rez is women fighting. There are more women on the rez then men. I feel for these people in this video, but there are MANY problems on the rez.

      1. Suicide
      2. Crimes against women
      3. Youth violence
      4. Alcohol and drug addiction (including perscription drugs)
      5. Create JOBS/adequate childcare
      6. HOUSING
      7. list is too long

And if about race, how did the tragedy of women being raped and killed get demeaned by statements that include "nice and stuff" or "go fuck yourself". How selfish to be so concerned about one's own issue, that a discussion about a specific group becomes belittled by perspectives that are saying "what about us?". It isn't about you. It's about women being raped on the reservation. Period. If you think something else needs to be discussed, find another place to post.

The tone of that implies that it is the person who is being attacked who must take responsibility for the actions of others - which is the attitude I see a lot in the America I live in today. If that is not what you meant, then I am sorry for misunderstanding - however "go fuck yourself" is hardly productive dialogue, nor is it an effective means of clarifying your previous statements.
