Vanguard correspondent Mariana van Zeller goes behind the scenes of the episode "Rape on the Reservation" and opens up about a sad and shocking slideshow of photos she watched with Martina, the mother of a young woman who was killed. Plus, Mariana talks about shooting in sub-zero conditions in South Dakota and crossing from one end of the Rosebud reservation to the other during a ride-along with tribal police.

"Vanguard," airing weekly on Current TV Wednesdays at 10/9c, is a no-limits documentary series whose award-winning correspondents put themselves in extraordinary situations to immerse viewers in global issues that have a large social significance. Unlike sound-bite driven reporting, the show's correspondents, Adam Yamaguchi, Kaj Larsen, Christof Putzel and Mariana van Zeller, serve as trusted guides who take viewers on in-depth real life adventures in pursuit of some of the world's most important stories.

    • I think this is the best model for a society that always has a larger youth pop than an elderly pop. They could really benefit from programs that encourage social responsibility.

    • Mariana: Not just rape. Women are also murdered never found no one talks or knows a thing. Case in point Reservation Teacher found Murdered in Washington State. Rumor was she was involved with a child abuse case. F.B.I. Never solved the case. Who else gonna care. It was covered up everyone clammed up for fear. Never went anywhere.
