In this scene from the new Vanguard documentary "Soccer's Lost Boys," correspondent Mariana van Zeller goes undercover to explore the last, desperate hope of young West African players living illegally in Paris: a pick-up game with sketchy middle-men who try to sell the players to outside agents.

As South Africa hosts the 2010 World Cup, the focus will be on many of the continent's brightest stars in soccer, including Chelsea's Didier Drogba and Inter Milan's Samuel Eto'o. In "Soccer's Lost Boys," correspondent Mariana van Zeller explores the dark side to the sport's global popularity, what has been called "the new slave trade."

"Soccer's Lost Boys" airs Wednesday, June 16 at 10/9c.

    • When you are reporting undercover...and you find some boy who is being exploited...what is being done to correct the exploitation? So...you were abandoned by your "agent" - now, who is going to get you help? Do they help these boys or just leave them where they are?

    • It good to have dreams and goals but at what price?. What about being happy and making good of what you have?
The reason why there is people out there to prey on helpless kids and families is because we as a society make athletes and movie stars gods. They are just like the rest of us. They bleed. have financial , marital problems , put on there close just like the rest of us.and well one day end up dead just like the rest of us.
