Vanguard correspondent Mariana van Zeller travels to Sri Lanka during the final days of the country's civil war to see how one of the world's most powerful insurgencies, the Tamil Tigers, was finally defeated.

In this clip, Mariana meets former child soldiers conscripted into the Tamil Tigers.

"Vanguard," airing weekly on Current TV Wednesdays at 10/9c, is a no-limits documentary series whose award-winning correspondents put themselves in extraordinary situations to immerse viewers in global issues that have a large social significance. Unlike sound-bite driven reporting, the show's correspondents, Adam Yamaguchi, Kaj Larsen, Christof Putzel and Mariana van Zeller, serve as trusted guides who take viewers on in-depth real life adventures in pursuit of some of the world's most important stories.

    • Their Homeland Security is Left to Children; Is there no one Paying attention?
This is just like Israel, the Teens are made Captains before the age of 21, so where is the life Credit? Children only get one chance to be innocent, after that.... There is a Gray Area.

    • you know what, i have respect for the Tamil Tigers. i am not afraid to say that. i do NOT agree with everything (maybe even most things) they have done. but I respect them. there was and I think still is a genocide. what were they supposed to do, let it happen? they are like the Palestinians and PLO, i have so much respect. i don't agree with everything, but i do respect, and the news should give more focus to the suffering of the Tamil people as inflicted by the Sinhalese, especially the government (which is and has long been almost 100% Sinhalese. god, the atrocities they have done...so much worse than the Tigers! get with the program, current. be progressive. say things others are afraid to).
