Vanguard correspondent Mariana van Zeller tails a group of migrant women to a rail yard in Mexico. There she speaks with Maria, a woman risking her life and safety to reach the United States for the second time. Each year, more than a million illegal immigrants attempt the treacherous journey to the Mexican-U.S. border. Many board a deadly freight train heading across the country known as "El Tren de la Muerte," desperate to find American jobs. Mariana met some of these migrants in Mexico in 2005. For desperate mothers like Maria, the journey includes risking rape, robbery, or even her life.
