Meet Aldi. In 2010, he became known as the "smoking baby" with the two-pack-a-day habit, the star of a viral video that raised very serious questions about addiction, parenting and the influence of Big Tobacco in developing countries. Vanguard correspondent Christof Putzel traveled to Indonesia to find Aldi and uncover the truth behind one of the world's cutest kids.

I understand the degenerative heath issues that orbit the use of tobacco . However, the picture of Mayor Bloomberg sitting at a bar with a backdrop of alcoholic beverages shows the hypocrisy of America's war on drugs. Alcohol is even more damaging in terms of its social collateral impact. Smoking cigarettes doesn't lead to death because of multi -venicle accidents. After twenty years of smoking I quit on Thanksgiving last year. The irony is that I have gained 25 pounds. The chemical base of nicotine suppresses your appetite.
It's trully amazing to me how America's prosperity, ironic enough, could very well be our undoing. The global demand for American ' Things ' has created a monster that has created E-waste in the Third World. That makes a child smoking a cigarette seem mild in comparison. At this very moment while you expose the Indonesian market for tobacco squatters, in poor countries across the globe are working barefooted in raggedy clothes while inhaling as much as 6.5 pounds of gas, lead, and dust (worst than tobacco
smoke )as they smash our computers, televisions, cell phones to recover reusable electronic parts.
My name is John H. Sibley. I am the artist/author of BODYSLICK. A fiction story about a hustler who organizes a global human organ cartel.I think the sell of human body organs globally would make a great story for "Current ". If you do PLEASE mention my novel.
Would like for you to read my blog titled:EXTREME WEATHER at Facebook. I think you will like it.

Smoking is not part of true Indonesian culture, cigarettes were brought in by Dutch colonists and now the tobacco companies have used ads to convince Indonesians that smoking is part of their heritage. It's nonsense. US and British companies are some of the biggest players in the Indonesian tobacco markets- Americans aren't smoking as much, so now we just go abroad to find people to hook on poison. I don't think it's fair that foreign companies go in and addict little kids and then say, "hey it's their culture and it's their choice." Even by the age of 15 most of the smokers (70%) want to quit but find it really hard. It's outrageous. - 11 months ago

The kid smoking is ridiculous, but hey, carping in the river in the water you drink, that is worse. Look its there cultural, and frankly, better cigarettes than heroin. That being said, .
Vanguard is really some of the best documentaries I've seen in a long time. I actually look forward to see them even more than KO. I just hope they don't run out of good material, maybe kind of do it only once a week, and extend the pieces if possible. - 11 months ago
