In this scene from "Two Americas," the Starr and Loya families -- both living in Texas in vastly different economic situations -- each watch Republican candidates debate government-supported programs such as unemployment and food stamps. Despite receiving both, Paul Starr says, "If the government wasn't helping us with the food stamps or unemployment, someone out there would be." Meanwhile, the Loyas, prompted by a question to Gov. Mitt Romney, talk about how much money someone has to have to be considered.

"Vanguard" is Current TV's no-limits documentary series whose award-winning correspondents put themselves in extraordinary situations to immerse viewers in global issues that have a large social significance. Unlike sound-bite driven reporting, the show's correspondents, Adam Yamaguchi, Christof Putzel and Mariana van Zeller, serve as trusted guides who take viewers on in-depth real life adventures in pursuit of some of the world's most important stories.
