"Vanguard" is Current TV's no-limits documentary series whose award-winning correspondents put themselves in extraordinary situations to immerse viewers in global issues that have a large social significance. Unlike sound-bite driven reporting, the show's correspondents, Adam Yamaguchi, Christof Putzel and Mariana van Zeller, serve as trusted guides who take viewers on in-depth real life adventures in pursuit of some of the world's most important stories.

    • I'm in this trailer. "i'm working my butt off and I'm making no profit". Glad they used that clip of me because it's so true for all of us. That's the point. Only problem is, I can't watch the whole episode because I live in Clinton CT and we don't have current TV here. Current is sending me the DVD. Awsome!!!!! Can't wait to get there again. Long trip for me, but I'm joining a lot of our Occupy CT Shoreline rallys.

    • I enjoyed the show, and I do believe in what Occupy Wall Street is trying to say. One thing I think Americans can do is find companies that have left our country, and what it is that they produce. If it is at all possible, boycott those items. Protesting is helpful in letting people know how you feel, but hit them in a way they will really feel. And it is obvious that money is the one thing these companies seem to love the most.

    • I am one of the 99%.
As an unemployed medical office laboratory technician I cannot find a job. The reason is because I have bad credit. I have bad credit because my daughter had me co-sign on a loan she cannot afford to pay it, and neither can I. It seems unfair that employers can check my credit score before hiring me.
This is a situation that is probably affecting a lot of the people. Only people with good credit can get a job?
Secondly, the police brutality with tear gas and arresting innocent people is very Gestapo like to me. I see a bully attitude against the rebellion. The people with a need for voice can't seem to find one in the corporation owned media. Not that I am critical of the media, it just seems like every station got the same feed off of their fax machines, like when Robin Williams was in the movie, "Good Morning Vietnam." I change the channel, and its the exact same news just a different host.
Now Police have a hard job, and I would not like to be in their shoes. My hat is off to their group effort, yet their might be a bully or two in the group that give them a bad name. Also, they get a paycheck every month no matter what they do. So, if they are in the streets or in their cars, they are paid. So, to say it is costing the state $$$ for the occupy protests is untrue. Same pay, different day. Couldn't they be catching child prostitution rings ore something instead of pepper spraying 85 year old nuns. I am appalled at the power the Mayor of a city thinks he has, to order aggressive action against peaceful protest.
Didn't it take peaceful protest to make it legal for women to vote?

    • Though I felt this documentary was balanced overall, there was one point that left me wondering. You said every idea had to be unanimously approved by OWS. Yet you highlight the decision of one person to pay 30K to go to Egypt and don't bother to say if that was approved or rejected. It smelled, IMHO, that you were trying to paint OWS as elitists because one person had an idea. Did anybody else agree with it? Why not say if it was approved or not. Why emphasize the cost and ignore the outcome?

    • This is an awesome episode of Vanguard. I'm so glad that Current TV is reporting the real news about this movement and has documented its beginnings so well.

    • I watched it last night - awesome. It shows the growth of the Occupy movement from the very beginning, from an idea on the internet to a national and then global awareness of public discontent and desire for change. Current & Vanguard always do a great job, but I've been watching OWS since the first day, this one really hit home for me.

    • Very well done, Christof! I do believe you've captured the heart and soul of the movement. This film would be a great education tool. Many still don't know what OWS is all about since the mainstream media gives it very little coverage. Will you have videos available for purchase?
