Ugandans rally in support of anti-gay legislation

We’re here in Uganda tracking a story for the upcoming season of Vanguard

A Uganda rally goer calls out in response to Pastor Martin Ssempa

Several hundred Ugandans gathered at a church rally today in support of the country’s controversial anti-gay legislation.  In recent weeks, the bill has been widely denounced by the international community, with both President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton condemning it at the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC.

Religious leaders pray over the author of the bill, MP David Bahati

At today’s rally, backers of the bill were keen to respond to Obama, Clinton and other critics, and demonstrate that the proposed legislation has popular support here in Uganda.  While the event was a scaled-down version of what was supposed to be a large public demonstration, all the key sponsors of the bill were in attendance, including its author, Member of Parliament David Bahati.

Do you really have to be enlightened to condemn a country that murders gay people?

I'd put that right above about 1st grade morality. Children know that it's wrong to murder people for something so trivial.

That would make your mentality about infantile in nature.

    • it's funny how Liberals constantly berate the US for "Imperialism" especially cultural imperialism, with the standard question "who are we to impose our values..." blah blah blah, and yet when it comes to the Gay Agenda, they are oh so willing to impose it on other nations.

this is clear case where we should stay out of their affairs. let Ugandans decide if buggering is a social value they want to promote or not.

I'd say invading a foreign country because they don't like "free trade" is a fair bit more Imperialist than condemning a country for passing a law which KILLS gay people AND their supporters.

You're also committing serious academic dishonesty by putting all liberals into the cultural relativity camp. It would be just as fair for me to say that all conservatives are in secessionist militias.

Who do you think taught the Ugandans to hate homosexuality? Christian missionaries taught Ugandans to hate homosexuality. They are the cultural imperialists.

It is funny how ignorant and simple minded conservatives are.

You want the Ugandans to kill homosexuals? Just because you think Liberals are hypocrites? Weird.

      EDIT:

Did I say weird? I meant 'skewed', 'sick', 'disgusting', 'non-logical', or what have you. Take your pick.

    • Ugandans are condemning others for acting on their beliefs. I'm bothered by this but If I were to condemn the Ugandans for acting on their beliefs then I would be a hypocrite. Obama should "back off" but that doesn't mean he should shut up. I will say loudly that I believe this is wrong but it would be more wrong to subjugate an entire nation.

    • this is why we need the philosopher kings plato spoke about. Until everyone on the planet is educated at the highest contemporary standard possible we'll always disagree on basic issues.

well, that doesn't sound arrogant at all! I guess it must be that those poor black bastards are just too primitive and need the patronistic whites to show them proper values.

I guess liberals must think sodomy is a global human value

Please tell me with a straight face that gay people should be killed curtis. Because that's what you're supporting right now with your reactionary idiocy.

You are so totally full of shit that some "sodomy" might be just what you need to clear it out. You hate liberals so much that it doesn't bother you that people will DIE because of this? Grow up.

People being free to love the consenting adults they wish , without being killed for it , is a basic right . Giving people a choice between death , and living a lie is barbaric .
