After watching this episode I have some questions for Current. Why is it that you didn't report that 1000's of guns seized over the last 3 years in Mexico that came from the U.S. were sold to the Cartels by the U.S. BATF under a program concieved by our President Obama and carried out by the head of the BATF, Eric Holder? Also, I have noticed that you misidentified all of the rifles shown as "ASSAULT RIFLES". None of the AK or AR style rifles shown on the show were ASSAULT RIFLES as stated. In order to be an assault rifle, the rifle MUST have SELECT FIRE CAPABILITY. In other words, the selector switch (safety) must have 3 positions, SAFE, SEMI, & AUTO. All of the rifles shown had only 2 position selector switches, safe & semi, therefore the rifles shown were, and are, NOT ASSAULT RIFLES. If you are going to report on these types of subjects you really MUST educate yourself on the subject so as not to look ignorant as you did in this episode. Also you failed to report that guns of all types have been moving into Mexico from all over the that country for over 100 years now. This is NOT new. Having worked in Mexico for over 10 years I saw this back in the '90's and was shown pictures by US Border Patrol Agents dating back to the 1950's of gun busts. So either report it correctly and fully or don't do it at all.

I just have a few questions? I watch the show vanguard all the time and its great! But, I don't understand why or how some of the topics are chosen? For example "arming the mexican drug cartels" Im watching this now and all I hear is how poor mexico is being attacked and harmed and relatives being killed< "quote on quote" because of the USA! Really? the show clearly states the drugs go north and guns move south. What the hell are the drugs doing to "our" america?????? If your gonna research a topic that is important which clearly is, make it fair for the country you are in! This isn't the only topic i feel this way about. Why not do a story on "christianphobia" opposed to "islamphobia". Like I said I love the show and the topics are great and very important, but there needs to be more topics that support America and not degrade it and its people. This is an american tv show being broadcasted in america, why not show how we are being affected by these other countries/people opposed to us hurting them!

First, I would like to say how much I appreciate the crew going to Mexico and putting their asses on the line. That being said, I don't believe that I should have my 2nd Amendment right suppressed due to the flow of guns into Mexico.
I do, however, believe that if Mexico is so concerned about the guns, then they should have a better process at the border than just allowing people to walk across and enter Mexico without anyone batting an eye.
I also believe that while I do have the right to bare arms at any and all times, that does not mean that the people or person selling the gun should just fork it over without any consideration of who may be purchasing it. God forbid they sell a gun to a psycho who then walks in to their home in the middle of the night and shoots the seller and his entire family. I suppose it would be their problem at that point, should anyone survive.
Also, the Mexican cops and military see people on the streets who are known affiliates of the gangs and cartels. They could do something about it. Turning a blind eye does nothing to stop the senseless killings. Putting some extra cash in their pockets doesn't mean that they or their families can escape reality of the situation they face day in and day out.
While our ATF isn't a perfect organization, our government isn't doing all they can to make sure that the ATF is succeeding to their full capacity. They are too concerned with saving face and being politically correct.
There has to an answer. Obviously, blind eyes and greed from both sides of the border is not it. - 6 months ago

This was a powerful show. It showed the true trajedy in Mexico - people poor as dirt. They come to America for that reason. Prosperity does not go there to meet them. When the American economy is doing well, it invests in Mexico. It is not right now.
The cartels have been allowed to replace American prosperity with a militant cartel (don't shoot, me read the whole article first) narco-state. If you've seen this show, it's a question of what to do now.
Both sides of the isle have something to do now. This is my effort. On the right, why the hell are well allowing "private" gun "collections" (as if the guns were branded as historical and given a copper license plate) to be sold without any accountability?
On the left, what do you think about legalizing pot? One third of the profits for the cartel would be curtailed. Then, we increase the penalties for cocaine trafficking. Sorry, but that sweet, sweet, cocaine has to go. You think you would be more free because it's your body, and you can stick whatever you want in it? I've had a gun pointed at me by a coke-slave wanting to get more - a couple with a child! Does this sound like freedom? I know, it's a rare person that can quit cocaine, so I am rare. Are you? Solve our problems, make the rare person common.
Now for the guns. Prosperity will slowly fix these problems permanently. Permanent prosperity. I hope Obama understands that prosperity is a panacea, the only one. I'm not talking about making everyone rich, just getting people on their feet and off addictive substances. Freedom from one's self comes before freedom from others.
Let's stop screwing around with symptoms, and cure the disease. Guns are a problem when there is poverty, or stupidity. Yesterday my nephew accidently shot his friend in the foot - just 10yrs old. Guns belong in lockers in locked rooms in locked basements. They need to be there to defend the country if there is an attack here. I didn't forget 09/11/2001, don't you.
