America cries ‘Mayday’: Van Jones on Occupy Wall Street, student loans and foreclosure

“Viewpoint” host Eliot Spitzer and Van Jones, president and co-founder of Rebuild the Dream and former Obama administration adviser, review the worldwide events the Occupy movement has planned for May 1 — May Day — in the context of the student loan crisis and homeowners’ ongoing struggles. Referring to Republicans’ plan to pay for the axing of an interest-rate hike on student loans by cutting a preventive care fund, Jones offers a different solution: “Our most precious resource is not petroleum, … it’s our young people. So take the money from the oil companies that don’t need the money and use that to pay for giving this next generation a shot. … I hope that the Republican Party won’t stay stuck on stupid and insist that we rob the mammogram fund to help kids go to college.”
