Are Republicans excited about Romney or just eager to defeat Obama?

Politico national political reporter Ginger Gibson and Richard Grenell, former national security spokesman for Mitt Romney, talk to “Viewpoint” host Eliot Spitzer about the Republican presidential candidate, who is behind in key swing states, according to recent polls. In addition, a Politico story has highlighted possible fractures within Romney’s campaign.

Grenell says that for Republicans, there’s reason to remain hopeful. “I do know we have a lot of money in the Romney campaign and we have 50 days out,” Grenell says. “The Democrats started early on saying that the Republicans weren’t excited about Mitt Romney, and I just don’t think that’s true. I think whether it’s really excited to defeat Obama or really excited for Romney, I can’t tell the difference at this point. We have a sense that Romney is our guy and he’s going to carry us through.”
