Environmentalist Bill McKibben, founder of 350.org, joins John Fugelsang on “Viewpoint” to lend context to recent reports that 2012 was the warmest year on record for the contiguous United States.
“This last year was off the charts in the U.S. In fact, it was pretty much off the wall the charts are tacked to,” McKibben says. “Beating a temperature record by one degree is almost impossible. It’s statistically an anomaly so enormous that the scientists are scratching their heads.”
McKibben contends that politicians need to realize that the environment is a priority: “If you want to figure out a way to wreck our economy, the best way to do it is to heat up the planet really fast.”
