Chris Christie, Charlie Crist and other GOP headaches

Sam Seder, host of “Ring of Fire” and “The Majority Report,” and Richard Socarides, former LGBT adviser to President Clinton and former president of Equality Matters, join “Viewpoint” host Eliot Spitzer to discuss why New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist are generating headlines as the (delayed) 2012 Republican National Convention commences in Tampa, Fla.

Spitzer asks about the possible impact of a New York Post exclusive in which an anonymous source alleged that Christie turned down the chance to be Mitt Romney’s running mate because of the “unlikely” possibility that President Obama might lose the election.

“If it’s true, then it’s devastating,” Socarides says. “It’s also interesting, I think, because if Christie was a real option, it speaks to the issue of whether or not Romney was really going for a right-wing person or if he was really just picking a personality.”
