Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America and a speaker at the upcoming Democratic National Convention, weighs in on Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan’s views on women’s reproductive rights and how women’s issues could impact the outcome of the 2012 election.
Keenan says that the Millennial generation can help close the persistent gap in public support for women’s reproductive rights: “They are pro-choice but there’s a bit of an intensity gap there, and we have to close it when it comes to making sure they connect the personal to the political. And that is, this truly is about who we elect to office, whether it’s at the presidential level or whether it’s in the state legislature,” Keenan says. “The silver lining in all these attacks is that young people have said, ‘Enough is enough’ — and I think you’ll also see them flock to the polls and support the president and his agenda.”
