Bill Press, host of Current TV’s “Full Court Press,” joins John Fugelsang on “Viewpoint” to share his thoughts on President Obama’s lunch meeting with Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md.
“I think myself that any meeting with any Republican is a waste of time,” Press says. “But I have to tell you … (Washington) is a town where things get done best when you have members of two parties who fight like hell during the day and then respect each other enough to kick back and have a couple of drinks and talk things over in the evening — and that’s what I think you’re seeing.”
Press goes on to observe that Speaker of the House John Boehner, R-Ohio, and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., were not on Obama’s guest list: “He needs some Republican votes to get anything done, so pick those people off and isolate the hardliners, then I think maybe we can move forward.”
