Dave Zirin: Baseball Hall of Fame vote implies ‘the 1990s just didn’t happen’

Dave Zirin, sports editor for The Nation and host of Edge of Sports Radio, and Richard Justice, MLB.com columnist, join John Fugelsang on “Viewpoint” to react to news that baseball heavyweights Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens failed to receive enough votes from members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

“I don’t know who used steroids and who didn’t, and I was not going to punish Bonds and Clemens because they got caught and allow a guy who got away with it,” Justice says. “It was just too fuzzy for me, so I just dispensed with it and tried to vote for the 10 best players I saw on the ballot.”

“The Baseball Hall of Fame seems to be sending the message that the 1990s just didn’t happen,” Zirin says.
