Economist Jeff Madrick’s advice to Obama: Don’t cut spending — and don’t worry about the deficit

Economist Jeff Madrick, a senior fellow at the Roosevelt Institute, talks to Current TV’s John Fugelsang on “Viewpoint” about President Obama’s economic policies. Madrick says decreasing the deficit will actually hurt the economy and argues that both Republicans and Democrats are “setting us back.”

“They are withdrawing money when we need it, before we start,” he says. “We’re ready to have a strong economy and bring unemployment down, and the talk of sequestration, the fiscal cliff — austerity economics in general — is hurting us badly.”
