“Viewpoint” host Eliot Spitzer tells “a tale of two bankers,” comparing the behavior of former Morgan Stanley CEO John Mack with that of M&T Bank CEO Bob Wilmers. Whereas Wilmers understands that “banking is supposed to be boring” and that banks should make loans people can repay, according to Spitzer, Mack does not: “You know what, John? There’s a difference between making money the right way and cheating your customers. There’s a difference between leveraging yourself to the hilt and then getting bailed out by taxpayers. And by the way, have you returned that $40 million bonus? I don’t think so, but you should.”
