Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) tells Eliot Spitzer about the End Polluter Welfare Act, a bill he has sponsored which would do away with tax breaks and subsidies for the oil, gas and coal industries. “In some years, some of the large oil companies — after making billions of dollars in profit — pay absolutely nothing in federal income tax. That is clearly wrong,” Sanders says.
Sanders also responds to developments in the JPMorgan Chase story, expressing hope that pressure from both sides of the political aisle could lead to reform to combat the “incredible concentration of ownership within the financial industry.”
