Even Scott Walker agrees: The NFL needs its union referees

Dave Zirin, sports editor for The Nation and host of Edge of Sports Radio, decries the National Football League’s lockout of union referees in light of a botched call made by replacement refs during a game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers.

“It’s shooting a cricket with a rocket-propelled grenade,” Zirin says of the NFL owners who are fighting the union referees over their pensions and other matters. “It’s like Mitt Romney saying, ‘Well, if you have a problem with your health, you can always go to the ER.’”

Zirin goes on to address Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a Packers fan, who “had the nerve to put out a tweet last night saying that he wants the union officials back” despite having “made perfectly clear that he does not want skilled, trained teachers in the classrooms of Wisconsin or skilled trained firefighters putting out fires.”
