Forget Southern comfort — Chick-fil-A’s anti-gay stance is an ‘embrace of the past’

Richard Socarides, former LGBT adviser to President Clinton, talks to “Viewpoint” host Eliot Spitzer about the latest in the battle between gay rights supporters and fast food chain Chick-fil-A. The company’s president, Dan Cathy, has used profits from the chain to fund anti-gay organizations, and in response there have been calls to boycott the business.

“Much like race was in the ’60s and ’70s, this issue really matters to people,” Socarides says of gay rights. “People want to work for companies that support equality, and customers want to be patrons of companies that support equality.”
