Gabe Feldman, Tulane University law professor and director of the Tulane Sports Law Program, joins “Viewpoint” host Eliot Spitzer to analyze a federal lawsuit brought against the NFL which consolidates thousands of former players’ cases relating to brain injuries.
At the heart of the lawsuit is the accusation that the NFL hid information linking head trauma to permanent brain injuries. Feldman notes that the growing awareness of the issue may ultimately have the greatest impact on the way youth football is played. “We realize that head injuries to kids when they’re 10, 11, 12, 13 — that’s when the damage starts. By the time you get to the NFL, it might be too late,” he says.
