Molly Ball, political correspondent for The Atlantic, and Josh Barro, lead writer for Bloomberg View’s “The Ticker,” talk to “Viewpoint” host Eliot Spitzer about Mitt Romney’s response to the backlash over his 47 percent comments, including an attack against Obama for supporting “redistribution.”
“This is not a real ‘gotcha,’” Ball says of Romney’s attack. “[Redistribution] is something that a lot of liberals and indeed most Republicans agree with on some theoretical level.”
“It works better as a talking point than as a serious policy discussion,” Barro says of the redistribution attacks. “What they’re really fighting over is who they’re going to redistribute from and to. … It’s basically the Republicans want redistribution for old people, the Democrats want it for poor people.”
