Investigative journalist Daniel Klaidman, author of “Kill or Capture,” talks to “Viewpoint” host Eliot Spitzer about how President Obama embraced and expanded America’s secret drone program.
Klaidman, who reported extensively on the issue for his book, points out that drones can’t be 100 percent accurate because it’s human intelligence that dictates their targets. “You can’t lift the fog of war entirely,” he notes.
“I think the real criticism — the most legitimate criticism — in some ways of this program is that it’s so shrouded in secrecy, at this point it doesn’t need to be. And I think the administration should understand that they would maintain more credibility for the program if they exposed it to more sunlight,” Klaidman says.
