Pick up post from your local pub

If you've ever needed a good excuse to go to your local pub, you can now say you're picking up post.

500 British pubs have signed up to the Use Your Local scheme, where pub landlords will take delivery of a parcel for you.

However it's up to the sender whether they accept the pub as a secure delivery address. The pub will keep packages for 21 days and send three e-mail reminders to the intended recipient during that time.

Sounds like a great idea, although sadly they won't accept parcels bigger than what you'd carry as airline hand luggage. So we still have to take half a day off for big deliveries.
