Tesco are certainly milking this as a PR opportunity and said "If Jedi walk around our stores with their hoods on, they'll miss lots of special offers."

He walked past a Muslim woman in a veil? How does he know she was Muslim? Maybe she was a Catholic woman having a bad hair day. Or, perhaps, she's a devotee of some crappy sci-fi franchise...
The only way for Tesco to make this fair is to have all their customers strip naked before they enter the store.

You can never find decent lightsabers in the electronics dept, anyway.
It's got to piss him off they let Vader in. He was just saying the other day that the colanders in aisle three split the beam on his Death Star, perfectly. Purrs like a kitten, apparently.

I'd love for them to try and eject muslim women for wearing Burkhas, Tescos would end up with a fatwa issued upon them.

I suppose his religion is just as valid as any other, right?

I wouldn't say his 'religion' is as valid as any. Theoretically it is, right-mindedness, no.
It's a mixture of two existing, long-standing religions that have been practiced together for a fair few hundred years. Buddhism and Taoism, though not in the same way as Zen. Perhaps there's even a little Confucianism thrown into the mix.
The only thing 'Jediism/geekism/nerdism/knobheadism' has added is a bit of sentimentality and a lot of piss-takability. - 2 years ago

It is a recognized religion in the UK with over 300,000 members. There are also churches set up in NZ and AU, but with smaller numbers. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jedi_census_phenomenon )
With that said it is the same as any other religion being asked to remove clothing that is linked to their religious beliefs. While Jedi is a smaller religion with a base that is linked to a movie I think the members deserve the same respect as any other religion. Those based on ancient beliefs, drawings, scriptures, or perhaps even some of the newer religions based off... say.... a science fiction novel. ;)
Guess that's just the peace lover in me.

Oh well, religion or not, I can still laugh at him, can't I?
On your link it does say in the update:- As such, Jedi Knight is not recognised as a religion. They thought, if 10,000 people signed themselves on the census as Jedi, the government would have to recognise it as a true religion. I like the following quote from the site you linked to:-
What happens if 10,000 Darth Vader wannabes declare themselves for the 'Dark Side'? Would it be possible for the two churches to live together in harmony? (:0)
I still don't know why Padawan-in-Chief is so bothered - Yoda never wore a hood and he kicked ass!

I love his parting message for Tesco:
“I’ll advise worshippers to boycott Tesco if it happens again. They will feel the Force.”
