Who's read the BNP's constitution in which the party states that they are "committed to stemming and reversing the tide of non-white immigration and to restoring, by legal changes, negotiation and consent, the overwhelmingly white make-up of the British population that existed in Britain prior to 1948."?
Who thinks "Billy Brit", the party's ginger-haired mascot of the BNP youth wing, is a little bit messed up?
With Nick Griffin's appearance on the BBC's Question Time in mind, it's worth reading these ten tidbits compiled by The Independent to get some more details on the party and the people behind all the controversy. To be fair, it does seem like the newspaper ran out of ideas towards the end of the list. Reasons 9 and 10 can basically be summed up as "a small minority of supporters of the party have turned out to be murderers or violent" - something which could be applied to any of Labour, The Tories and Lib Dem easily enough.

yes but i said the core essentials of politicians, whatever party you are, are the same, they all shake eachother's hands behind the scenes with their tax free beer and lack of a smoking ban.

You know what?! Nick Griffin is no different to the rest of the politicians in every party, vile parasites who's only interest in money and power.

I'd call alot of his views and prejudices alot different to most politicians, no matter how slimy and paracitic they are.

CarolineS:
true true, but the core essentials of greed and slime are always there beneath every 'conservative' 'liberal' and 'rascist' politician. I just mean this in the way that they are all in the same line of business together and are fully aware as to the main reasons for our problems (corporations, banks and our debt) yet all skirt around the real issue.

It's not just London that people protested against the BBC Thursday, this was in Belfast outside BBC's Northern Ireland office.

Freedom of speech should always be upheld regardless of who is doing the speaking. Let the BBC uphold their policy on alleged unbiased proportional representation, let Griffin say his piece and let the British public see what a complete wanker he really is.

Apparently he's now in the BBC TV centre (he was originally saying he wasn't going to go in if the police couldn't safely get him in) and as much as I disagree with his views it's good that he has managed to get in to talk. Violent protest is playing into his hands and it's ironic that Griffin is having to tell the police to sort out the violence.

Sky News have just done a telephone interview with Nick Griffin about the protesters.
If the protesters hadn't made themselves a news story, Griffin wouldn't have been given this prime time interview slot. The more he's interviewed for things like this, the more he becomes a personality and gets to spout his nonsense.
I'm all for the BBC allowing Griffin onto Question Time. He's been elected so it's only fair he speaks, even if I personally disagree with his views. The best thing the protesters could have done is let him mess up on QT then, after the event, protest against what he said.
As it is, they've given him extra air time while protesting against him having any at all. D'oh!

These are the most fascist anti-fascist protestors to have have ever protested! Yes, down with democracy, let's ignore all of the people that have voted for them and instead, let's burn them on a bonfire, because we hate fascists?? Am I alone in the deafening silence of irony here?

The protests have already begun outside the BBC.
Edit: The Guardian reports some are chanting: "Build a bonfire, build a bonfire, put Nick Griffin on the top, put the Nazis in the middle, and burn the fucking lot."
The key issue they have, you see, is tolerance. Er...

jclem i guess your right, we are all entitled to our freedom of speech no matter how hateful, hurtful, or stupid it may be, reminds me of when geert wilders entered the UK and the radical muslims held up sign saying "free speech go to hell" which was poignant as, if we didnt have free speech they wouldnt have been there holding up their signs. what a world.

@CarolineS - However much you might hate them they have a right to freedom of speech as long as they don't break any laws.
Anyways its quids in for the BBC tonight, they're easily going to get their biggest audience figure ever for Question Time

"In 1912 a lion was born./Enoch was his name./A gentleman. A British hero./Through truth, the man found fame./He gave a speech called 'Rivers of Blood'./And never gave up the fight./Enoch Powell spoke for me and Enoch Powell was white"
What truly amazes me is that such a party is actually able to exist, I cant believe they havent been broken down yet, they say racism is a crime, and you can get locked up for it, I dont understand why the whole of this party hasnt been locked up, they are the most vile racist people in this country
