This video is no longer available.

The Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in Denmark has developed a modern architectural concept which would connect Denmark and Sweden via a multi-function transportation network. The Loop City project will limit Denmark's increasing urban sprawl while bringing more focus and vitality to existing suburban communities.

    • this video was made and sponsored by a car company there more to this then meets the eyes. years ago LA had a sub way car makers bought out the subway parts that where not completed making it impossible to be completed because of that LA traffic is bad and the subway is still there. this is like just Scion supports new ideas i do not buy it. what do car companies gain from this? he says SF bay yet SF trails where bough out and 95% where destroyed to force car use. this is like the oil company ads saying how they support all these new ideas new ways when on the other hand they are doing everything they can to destroy it.

    • To be able to live in the "burbs" but be close enough by train or other means is a great idea. New York, Boston etc already have trains that run from the city to the suburbs right? I remember seeing a train in China so packed that the transit workers were shoving a man into the overcrowded train so the doors would shut. Atlanta, GA has a "loop" if I'm not misunderstood that surrounds the city and from what I hear it's not so great by car. Perhaps a high speed rail would be good but here in Orlando, FL the idea of a high speed rail has been kicked around for the last 10 years and it never passes the initial stages. Just a bunch of pretty pictures of a rail and people looking happy around it. Don't think it will ever pass. It's too damn hot and the city isnt set up for this kind of transportation. People would rather ride in their own car. Even rush hour traffic isnt too bad compared to other cities. These guys seem like real thinkers but take New York for instance. The expedition into the city during rush hour isnt so great and takes forever, adding frustration and stealing time from people that could be spent with their kids or just chillin. How could this be improved, I wonder? New York is broke, I dont know about Denmark but these are huge expensive projects. I enjoy their optimism but anywhere in the U.S. right now I don't see this happening. Good luck in your endeavors Europe, we're screwed

    • I wonder what are the political/cultural ramifications?
How does suburbia feel about you trying to urbanize their living space.

I would think there would be great resistance because people move to the suburbs to escape the city.
