Camels Are At The Gate

pstuart
Camel racing has taken the place of horse racing in Australia due to an outbreak of equine flu among the horses Down Under. Crowds showed up to the track and cheered on the camels, which many hope will be able to recoup the severe loss of revenue the industry has sustained due to the flu.

    • It was on "60 Minutes" this past Sunday. This link has the video, called "Dubai, Inc. pt. 2", and the camel-racing bit is about 3:42 in. It's a pretty fascinating story overall...

    • And what's funny is that I just saw something on tv about how they don't allow young boys to be camel jockeys in the Arab Emirates anymore, so now they have remote-controlled robots on the camels instead. But the best part? The robots are controlled by the racers from their SUV's, which all drive in this crazy mass right next to the track. It's insane.
