Kaka is the best

Kaka, the Brazillian star who plays in Italy for AC MIlan has won the Balon D'Or for 2007 and can now officially call himself the greatest player in the world. It has been a mixed 12 months for the 25 year old. 2006 saw a disappointing turn out for Brazil in the World Cup and his club AC Milan have struggled domestically in the last few seasons. However few could doubt his class as he carried Milan to Champions League glory in May this year.

Despite Milan's inconsistencies, Kaka's individual performances continue to astound. He regularly scores spectacular goals and his presence on the pitch leaves mere mortals entranced.

I personally would have gone for Barcelona's Lionel Messi. The way he has performed this season so far I can't imagine it going to anyone else. It does seem this award normally goes to whoever has won the World Cup or the Champions League rather than a player who has consistently performed over 12 months. It is ridiculous that Thierry Henry or Francesco Totti have not been given this honour in previous seasons. Any Ronaldo fans out there?
