Vancouver Canadians' rookie outfield Jeremy Barfield knows that. Yet he isn't hesitant to admit it does give a youngster like him a leg up on other kids who weren't able to grow up around some of the greats of the game.
"Sure it's an edge," Barfield said Wednesday prior to the C's Game 2 of their season-opening series against the Tri City Dust Devils at Nat Bailey Stadium. "Just to be around great players is a help. It's helpful because you know what to expect [when you turn pro]."
