Michael Jordan enters the Hall of Fame

Michael Jordan, maybe the greatest of them all, is taking his place alongside basketball's other greats.

Jordan will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame on Friday night, a final honor that follows all the championship rings and MVP trophies he collected during his career.

He joins David Robinson and John Stockton, a pair of his 1992 Dream Team teammates, and coaches Jerry Sloan and C. Vivian Stringer in a distinguished class.

"It all started with that little round ball. I think if you take that away from any of us, I'm pretty sure we would have struggled in life, because that's how much the game meant to us," Jordan said at a morning news conference with the inductees, where he stressed that the weekend wasn't just about him.

"It's truly a pleasure for me to be a part of this and contrary to what you guys believe, it's not just me going into the Hall of Fame, it's a group of us," Jordan said. "And I'm glad to be a part of them and believe me, I'm going to remember them as much as they remember me."

Still, none of them can compare to Jordan -- perhaps no one ever will -- after he led the Chicago Bulls to six NBA championships while often being considered the best player ever.

Jordan said he cringes when he hears that label, because he didn't get to earn it by playing others who might have deserved it.

    • Love it:
"One day you might look up and see me playing a game at 50," he said. "Don't laugh. Never say never, because limits, like fears, are often just an illusion."
      -----------------

The Jazz were real fakers when it came to being fouled. So bad were they that people that never really watched the game noticed their ploy during several play off games with the Rockets.

As for Jordan's comments....he has every right to shove his accomplishments in those people's faces. They should have treated him as a person and not someone that couldn't. And it might sound bitter, but it's more along the lines of stating I DID IT and you never said I did.

Treat people better and they won't harbor anything. Not all the time should things be brought back....but this is not a bad thing he has done. He could have done it in a more classy way, but oh well. He was right to state it.

J Jammer you sound like a bitter Rockets fan who's team blew a 12 point lead with under three minutes to play against Stockton and the Jazz in 97'. That Rockets team had Barkley, Olaujawan and Drexler, and Stockton the little guy took them down.

I totally disagree with you about Jordan, he may have been the greatest player but he couldn't hold a candle to Robinson, Sloan, Stringer, and Stockton when it comes to humility and character.

"Never put the organization ahead of the players" said Jordan.

Are you kidding me? Yeah as if the coaches and front office and fans did nothing. What a petty comment, but expected from the only guy on the stage who did not check his ego at the door.

    • The induction would have been awesome if he hadn't let his pettiness ruin a special moment in basketball history. Some of the stuff he said and did was childish and unbecoming of such a great player. He may be the greatest, he may be the most popular, but his speech ensured he will never be the most respected.

    • And a huge congrats to David Robinson as well. It's always great when people of the sports world are just good guys. They take a lot of criticism by being thought of as soft or weak. He had amazing leadership skills and took and not-so-good team & made them into champions. And very dedicated being that he stayed with the Spurs for so long. Thanks for being a great player, a wonderful family man and supportive of our San Antonio community.

Good job to you too, Mike. :)

    • I was born in Chicago and grew up watching Michael play ball. I remember watching the first threepeat and not knowing there was any other way for the season to end but with a Michael Jordan championship. To me the hall of fame doesn't really do him justice. They should give him an entire wing or just name it the Michael Jordan Hall of Fame.

    • Mike is and will forever be the greatest in my eyes.
I wanted to be Mike whenever I went to the playground with my friends and tried to imitate what I saw him do the night before on the tube.
I never really did it, but I sure as hell tried.
I never understood how he stayed that long in the air whenever he jumped .......

The man is the essence of great sportsmanship, so being inducted into the basketball hall of fame is the least that could be done to show appreciation for what he did for the game.

Thank you Mike for inspiring me to run around the basketball court with my tongue hanging out of my mouth ......
now I do the same thing while I am working and my coworkers think I am crazy,
