Scene 1 by seanb1 In the future, an author's last work becomes a manifesto for a radical politcal movement that threatens global stability. James must bring him in and convince him to write a piece of best seller fluff instead. Will the old man sacrifice his legacy to save millions of lives? -
Scene 2 by willdude As Dayna walks into the bar she notices James hovering over the TV. Scenes of global catastrophe are playing out. James holds up a book and says "can you believe this caused that"? -
Scene 3 by jplunkett On cue, a grumpy old man in a wheelchair rolls into the bar. This is Arthur Growling. After a series of wildly-successful science fiction books about a child astronaut who travels from planet to planet helping alien communities, Growling abruptly ended the series and vanished from public life to focus on his first love: mountain climbing. -
Scene 4 by jplunkett Flashback: a beautiful day on a majestic Andes mountain. But then...a terrible accident...and an inexperienced rural doctor makes a mistake that leaves Growling paralyzed from the waist down. -
Scene 5 by jplunkett Exiled from the natural landscapes he loves, an embittered Growling pens "The Last Planet,"a final chapter in the child astronaut series but one that takes a dark, neo-colonial turn. His beloved hero has shrugged off the optimism of his youth and decided that the people on one planet must provide enough energy and labor so that the rest of the galaxy might enjoy a life of carefree consumption. -
Scene 6 by jplunkett The chaos James is now watching on television is the vision foretold in The Final Planet. A group of former UN soldiers calling themselves "The Growlers" have taken over China and are promising to turn the country into a "benevolent factory state" in service of the world's people. Surprisingly, the movement is gaining support... especially in America where Growler's sci-fi is extremely popular. And China is not.
