  • Scene 1 In the future, an author's last work becomes a manifesto for a radical politcal movement that threatens global stability. James must bring him in and convince him to write a piece of best seller fluff instead. Will the old man sacrifice his legacy to save millions of lives?
  • Scene 2 As Danya walks in, James is reading a copy of Machiavelli's "The Prince." James reflects on the power of words.
  • Scene 3 John Theodore stumbles into the bar. He is dressed like a bum, he is skittish, bows his head and asks, "where am I?" Doug, who has just entered as well, overhears and says, "let me buy you a drink."
  • Scene 4 As Doug starts to talk, John, the new patron, has a thought and pulls out a thick notebook to jot it down. Doug sees that he is writing in Japanese.
  • Scene 5 Danya also notices that there is a label on the notebook that says, if found, return to this address. When she goes into the real world she is shocked to find that the address is a presitgous university, and John Theodore is teaching a class on advanced physics.
