A pitch from Bruden is now ready for development:

Dayna and Doug are playing darts, the Jukebox kicks on playing an ominous tune. Surprised and confused both Dayna and Doug turn to see someone entering the bar.

Entering the bar is a sharply dressed man, suit, expensive overcoat, he gives off an air of confident and sleazy, as if he knows something you don’t and is going to use it to milk you of everything you’ve got. (Think Mark Sheppard’s typical roles in B.S.G., Firefly, Supernatural) The man sizes up the bar in a glance. “Very interesting” he says with a smirk.

The Mans voice makes James look up from cleaning behind the bar. This is one of the few times we see James with a look of genuine shock on his face. “How the hell did you get back here?!”

“Oh, I’m hurt. No ‘hi how are you?’ No ‘how’ve you been?’ You wound me James.” The mans knowing smirk remains.

Doug leans close to Dayna in hushed tones asking “Who’s he?”

“I have no idea” Dayna responds, confused.

“How did you get back here?” James repeats.

“Come now James, didn’t you tell me that Karma Inc. helps anyone in need? I still qualify, last time I checked.”

“Damn loopholes” James grumbles.

The Sharply dressed man notices Doug and Dayna, and remarks to James as they approach. “Hired some new staff James?”

“I’m Dayna, this is Doug. You actually remember being here before?” She holds out her hand, it’s met with an assessing look.

“Lets not talk about me, I’m old news, better left on the shelf.”

“Or locked in the cellar.” James chimes in.

“So, Doug,” The man says pointedly ignoring James’ comment. “You’re the new me?”

Who is the overconfident man? How does he know James, and why is James so upset that this man was able to come back to Bar Karma? What help could he need from Karma Inc? And most importantly, what does he mean when he says to Doug, “you’re the new me”?

This concept would allow us to explore the overarching story of Bar Karma and delve into it’s history, while still holding to episodic karmic assistance concept of the show.
