A man walks into a bar. That's how you decided Bar Karma would begin, but we're looking for some creative new ways for characters in future episodes to make their entrances and exits. Come up with your best suggestions on how patrons can enter and leave Bar Karma besides the front door.

Doug sits down at an empty bar, after a moment he notices someone sitting next to him in the mirror. (but not actually sitting next to him) The camera would follow Doug's confused look closer at the mirror, and his look back to the seat to find our patron has arrived.

Another situational entrance for you: one of our faithful Bar Karma team drops a rather full bottle, it shatters against the floor and in the instant it explodes open a person soaking wet appears coughing and spluttering.

Would work best for someone on a boat or swimming, but if done well could be used for someone in a rain storm, or even just hit by a splash from a car going through a big puddle.

A woman locked in a car trunk pushes and kicks until she busts the latch. When she pulls herself out of the trunk, she finds she's pulling herself out of BK's beer cooler.

Bob never actually makes it IN to the bar. He's in the television. He can see into the bar, hear what's being said, and even talk to those in the bar, but he's just stuck. In the tv.

An example to enter the bar could be:
    - A man/woman is ready to jump out of a 20 story building to their death. They let go and their body is on it's way down, but just before they hit the ground, they appear in Bar Karma. He/She drops from the ceiling and lands on the couch. (It turns out they haven't jumped down yet, it was their subconscious that did so, and thus after they exit Bar Karma, they are back in the same... more

Trapped in an avalanche, or blizzard, someone digs his/her way out from being buried in the snow. When he/she reaches the surface, the person pulls themself out of the BK's ice maker and falls to the floor.

An artist is trying hard to make his next work of art, so to speak. None of his work ever made so much as ten dollars. He was thinking about ending his art career when he begins to paint a bar scene. Why? He didn't know. He never painted still life, only abstract. But as he stared deeper into the painting, he felt like it was all too real. Then, paint begain spilling out of the painting. Some of the paint sticks to the floor, some rises in columns. After 5 seconds, the apartment the artist was in was now replaced with the bar.

A middle aged Buddhist monk goes into a deep meditaton in a temple in Sri Lanka. He is deep in concentration when he realizes that the quiet sounds of the temple have been replaced by the sound of a jukebox and the clinking of glasses. He opens his eyes to find he is sitting on the floor of Bar Karma. The monk is an expat who left America to leave a troubled past behind. But maybe running away wasn't the right answer. Doug and Dayna need to help the monk face what he left behind.

It could be an interesting experiment to have a bar patron open the door to a real world bar, let's say Bar X, but end up walking into Bar Karma instead. He/She wouldn't realize that a cosmic-karmic-switcharoonie had just taken place. And because the newly arrived is neither surprised, scared, not feeling defensive or threatened by his/her impending karmic overhaul, it could be a great opportunity to explore more subtle "human conditions."

  • The person could enter Bar Karma through the restroom.

Going out of a restroom in a "real life" bar or restaurant's restroom would imply going out of the restroom of Bar Karma, and then waking "a bit lost", looking for some information from somebody in order to check out where they are and what's really going on..

The patron is preparing for bed, turning out the lights etc. They turn out the last light and we can hear them walking, then we hear them bump into something along with a few confused/angry exclamations. The lights come back on thanks to one of the staff, the patron has found his way into Bar Karma, and stumbled over a bar stool.

Elsewhere, one is throwing darts at a bristle board. The dart lands in the center.
    "Bullseye," they exclaim!
The camera pulls back as the player spins around to find their audience gone and their previous surroundings exchanged for... Bar Karma's dart board and interior.

Maybe there is a wooden trunk inside the bar that someone is locked inside of, demanding to be let out. It turns out that the person inside had been locked into the trunk of a car (or another tight space)

A teenage boy, let's call him Jake, (age 17, high school senior), sneaks in through a window because he's trying to collect his alcoholic father from his "regular" bar... something he's obviously done many times. Poor Jake is confused by the unfamiliar surroundings, so he remains hidden, listening, until he has a chance to escape. Finally, when he doesn't see anyone in sight, including his father, Jake attempts to exit through the front door and gets caught. His presence is a surprise to all involved.

A lush, at a local bar, runs out of money and decides to raid the cash register when the bartender walks into the back room. He quickly leaps over the bar only to find himself standing behind the bar at Bar Karma as William steps aside, knowing somehow that it was going to happen.
