Pitch an idea for an episode Posted by Jim_Goldblum | OCTOBER 29, 2010
Pitching a hidden underlying concept which is first hinted at in this episode.
Crazy homeless man [could be anyone. just plot vehicle] walks in. Spewing crazy talk that the end of the world is near. Something along the lines of, "We will be judged collectively in 2012" among other things.
You see...the bar is the personification [that the right word?] of the barometer of humanity's collective Karma. "Samples" have been walking in from history makers to everyday people in order to measure humanity's worthiness. "Ingredients," if you will, of the final cocktail that represents the world's total Karma.
Now and then someone from humanity is recruited to help in the mechanics of it all, adding to Karma Inc. Lifetime employment with great perks.
Now and then, James pours the Karma cocktail drink. The recipe differs each time, changing slightly in appearance each time he does this. Is he in some uncontrollable trance when he does this? i dont know.
Shockers and milestone moments of the show are saved for when the drink changes DRASTICALLY in appearance. James, Doug, Dayna, and whoever is part of the main cast at any of these times look at the glass in fear when it suddenly turns red [for example], knowing that it implies things have taken a turn for the worst.
Who knows whats the final verdict is.
Who knows what the consequences are either way.
Who knows whos behind this.
Who knows Karma Inc.'s purpose in this and their relation to whoever is behind it...IF its not them, themselves.
...and do "The Staff" discover a way to summon specific people in order to control/adjust/ the results?

I really like this idea. I've been thinking a lot about the show needing some kind of deeper meaning. One of the things I liked about The X-Files was how they wove the idea of spirituality through the episodes.
