“Starless Night” is a beautiful, inspiring 2-1/2 min. animated short film by Spanish filmmaker Carl Luc Campbell. This “tradigital” animation is about a cat, a dog and a long sleepless night. It tells the story of a cat who’s in love with the stars and becomes very sad when they suddenly disappear one night. Fortunately, her canine friend comes up with a plan to make the night sky shine for her once more. You see, even dogs and cats can find a way to help each other out on a starless night. Sweet.
This piece includes a number of colorful pictures from the film, as well as the very tender and moving animated short, “Starless Night.”

OMG...that sure is a very tall, high wooden fence they built right there. Makes that Mr. Rogers type of guy be wondering why on earth he should be worrying about a little dog kept back in the yard behind such a big, tall fence. But that fellow had better watch out for himself. Why? 'Cause that little dog behind there is like super-dog, faster than a speeding bullet, able to leap tall buildings at a single bound! Yep, I'd tell that Mr. Rogers-guy that he sure better watch out!

“Un Tour de Manège” (A Ride on a Fairground Carousel) is an enchanting animated short film by Les Manèges, four young French filmmakers from Gobelins in Paris. The film is a metaphoric fairy tale in which a magical carousel takes a little girl on the ocean voyage of a lifetime. It’s a story about childhood fears of early separation from the mother, and of being thrust all alone into the vast ocean of life.
On the little girl’s voyage she’s cast adrift in the ocean where other carousels abound, some inhabited by boys with threatening wolves, and where she must navigate dangerous whirlpools with the assistance of fluttering insects. In the end, the girl is magically saved and returned to the soothing arms of her mother, at which point she secretly turns to the audience and mischievously winks to let us know that in spite of the dangers, she had quite enjoyed herself.
This piece includes a number of pastel watercolor illustrations from the film, as well as the enchanting animated short, “Un Tour de Manège.”

One of my longest running lists as of late was my “want to see” list, which consisted of genre titles like Paranormal Activity, Trick ‘r Treat, The Hills Run Red, Laid to Rest and so forth and so on. As of Halloween night the sole remaining title on that list was Fear(s) of the Dark, a French anthology of black & white animated shorts. Now, less than twenty four hours removed, I can say that while it was definitely worth the wait for this dude, it’s probably not for everyone.

"In late 1998, I was commissioned to compile and produce the soundtrack for a sequel to the film “Tron”. A draft of the story had already been written and early filming had begun (as reported by ZDNet on July 27, 1999). As I understand it, the film was kept in great confidence with the producers as Pixar was still in negotiations with Disney about the responsibilities of the production teams.
“Rise Of The Virals” was a fantastic, but much darker storyline from the original — different from the “Into The Machine” pitch made to Disney by another party. It involved updating the ENCOM universe to a networked system (thanks to the Internet), but also created a darker world — full of programs abandoned as buggy systems (or “mutants”) and abused by corrupt users as viral systems. Furthermore, the story included the death of Flynn and presented questions about the digital life of programs lasting beyond the mortality of their creators — the users.
My task was to compile great underground artists to create a new soundtrack for this darker world of Tron. After the completion of the initial tracklist and first production draft of the soundtrack, it seemed as if negotiations between Pixar and Disney had broken down. Funding for the project was eventually pulled."http://www.thefilmtalk.com/2009/11/01/tron-rise-of-the-virals-free-soundtrack/... more
Are you prepared for the face of terror? Disney's iteration of "A Christmas Carol" features the woefully frightening animation of the company which created the flop, "The Polar Express." Robert Zemeckis, the director of both movies and also the creator of said company, is responsible for that notorious animation style archetypal of the “Uncanny Valley” theory that there are certain degrees of similarity to human features in animation which just creep everyone out. So rather than stylize his next animated film, as a sane person might, he instead chose to repeat his mistake with “A Christmas Carol”. So, basically we get to see “A Christmas Carol” rehashed one more painstaking time, but this time we’re treated to four different iterations of Jim Carey’s creepified face. Are you prepared for the face of terror? This is a band named S.A.R.S., the acronym of "Svjeze amputirana ruka Satrianija" which means "Freshly amputated Satriani's hand". The name pretty much says it all, but, there's more - they describe themselves as "drunk fools nobody cares about". Well, not quite.
The song "Budjav lebac" which means "Moldy bread" is a satire about social status in Balkan region (some call it Southeastern Europe) and solution for the global crisis. It's very funny and the video is something special.

When most of us think of Halloween movies, we tend to think of horror flicks, psychological thrillers, or bizarre mind-benders. The Nightmare on Elm Street, for example, or What Lies Beneath, or 12 Monkeys. But since 1993, a stop-motion animation musical has become as much a part of American Halloween culture as any horror franchise.
Boys and girls of every age
wouldn’t you like to see something strange
Come with us and you will see,
this our town of Halloween
So begins the opening song of what is perhaps the most misunderstood Christmas movie of all time, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Yes, I’m serious. For all the references to pumpkins, death, trick-or-treating, and the Boogie Man, The Nightmare Before Christmas is actually a Christmas movie. When most of us think of Halloween movies, we tend to think of horror flicks,... more

“Skhizein” is a humorously strange animated short film by the French filmmaker Jérémy Clapin. The film has earned several awards, including The Cannes’ Kodak Prize for Best Animated Short and Animafest’s Best Film; it was a 2008 Oscar nominated animated short film.
What would happen if a 150-ton meteorite fell on you? “Skhizein” tells the very sorrowful story about sad little Henry, who did experience the terrible misfortune of being struck by a 150-ton meteorite, which resulted in the poor fellow being “split” away from himself, forever having to live precisely ninety-one centimeters from himself. If Harry wants to move or do anything like answer the phone or sit in a chair, he has to measure his distance 91-centimeters (3 feet) away, because he always exists 91-centimeters from where he used to exist. And if insanity is measured in centimeters….

More and more fresh photos of "Avatar" have been making their rounds. After a number of high resolution pictures of the sci-fi movie came up earlier, Market Saw brought forth three other new images. Two, which center on Neytiri and Jake's avatar, are high quality pictures, while the other one presents a scan of Grace's avatar from a French magazine.
These three fresh photos add on the ones coming out hours earlier. The previously-released pics from the movie first conceived by director/producer/writer James Cameron 14 years ago capture Neytiri in action and Jake's avatar among the human. A shot of Jake observing what seems to be his avatar's tank and the aerial shot of Pandora are also included.More and more fresh photos of "Avatar" have been making their rounds.
