It was obvious that Giuliani still stands behind what he said in 2008 about Romney’s mediocre job record. He quickly followed up with the requisite GOP talking points against President Obama. As expected, he stated on cue, that “Mitt Romney has been far more successful in the things that he’s done than Barack Obama, who was just a community organizer.”

The war drums are beating louder and louder for Iran. And on CNN Thursday night, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani did his part, casually saying President Obama should threaten to "bomb" Iran to prevent the country from developing a nuclear weapon.
Obama has made the situation more complicated by being such a "weakling," Giuliani said, including writing a secret letter to Ayatollah Ali Khamanei asking for a dialogue. By David Taintor / Talking Points Memo The war drums are beating louder and... more

Whether you like it or not, Paul Krugman is right, and that’s why the right-wing’s collective head is exploding over his post: no matter how hard you try, no matter how you attempt to sell it or tweak it or rebrand it or just plain lie about it, the actions of the Bush administration set this country on a course for destruction, at every level, and we’re seeing the ramifications of those actions play out before our very eyes on a daily basis.

This story may not be going away for a long while.
New York Times columnist Paul Krugman lashed out at the commemoration of the 10 year anniversary of September 11th, labeling George W. Bush and Rudy Giuliani as "fake heroes."
On his "Conscience of a Liberal" blog Sunday morning, the Princeton economics professor didn't lack in showing any temerity in his comments that certainly will upset conservatives.
"What happened after 9/11 — and I think even people on the right know this, whether they admit it or not — was deeply shameful," he wrote. "Fake heroes like Bernie Kerik, Rudy Giuliani, and, yes, George W. Bush raced to cash in on the horror. And then the attack was used to justify an unrelated war the neocons wanted to fight, for all the wrong reasons."
Krugman, who normally allows comments, also wrote that he wasn't going to allow comments under this post "for obvious reasons."

Aside from Donald Trump, you couldn't pick a bigger clown to run for President of the United States. Has there ever been another US presidential candidate who has performed in drag, multiple times?!?
It remains unofficial, but former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is poised to run for president in 2012, according to Weekly Standard editor William Kristol.
Kristol, a neoconservative commentator who's well connected in Republican circles, reported in a post titled "Rudy's Running": "I'm told by two reliable sources that Rudy Giuliani intends to run for the GOP nomination for president in 2012. He may throw his hat in the ring soon."
Kristol summed up the crux of the Giuliani's message this way: "I'm tough enough to put our fiscal house in order and to protect us from enemies abroad."Aside from Donald Trump, you couldn't pick a bigger clown to run for President of... more
Not a heart-stopping day news-wise. But then, they can't all be drenched in hysteria.
As I've noted, the 2012 Republican presidential primary will be vastly different from the 2008 race.
Back then Ron paul was roundly derided for endorsing the traditional conservative approach toward foreign policy.
This time around, a lot of the others are going to have to make a choice between conservatism and the liberal internationalism of the so-called "neo" conservatives. This piece on Haley Barbour from The Hill shows that the debate has begun:
Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (R) may have set the tone for the foreign policy debate in the Republican presidential nominating contest when he questioned the war in Afghanistan and its costs.
Barbour’s comments were quickly met with derision from the neocon wing of the GOP, but some Tea Party-affiliated lawmakers said the governor was taking a strong conservative stand on spending.
The differing reactions illustrate a tough political reality for Republicans in 2012: Even as public opinion increasingly turns against the war in Afghanistan and concern over the deficit intensifies, embracing talk of defense cuts and troop pullouts may still be a bridge too far.
And note the squeals from Bill "My Mommy Was a Commie" Kristol:
Neocons pounced on his statements. Writing in The Weekly Standard, Bill Kristol called Barbour's comments "irresponsible" and accused him of "pandering" to public opinion, suggesting there may be an opening in 2012 for a candidate who questions the direction in Afghanistan and puts defense cuts on the table.

The Hill Share reports, "Onetime Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani on Sunday defended Sarah Palin's response to critics who placed partial blame for the shooting that injured Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) on the former Alaska governor." Giuliani "said during a 'Face the Nation' interview on CBS that" Palin's use of the term "blood libel" in response to media criticism "was off the mark -- but the former New York City mayor also defended Palin." Said Giuliani of the shooting, "This had nothing to do with left or right. ... Or a map."

Robert Pape, a University of Chicago political science professor and former Air Force lecturer, will present findings on Capitol Hill on Tuesday that argue that the majority of suicide terrorism around the world since 1980 has had a common cause: military occupation.
Pape and his team of researchers draw on data produced by a six-year study of suicide terrorist attacks around the world that was partially funded by the Defense Department's Defense Threat Reduction Agency. They have compiled the terrorism statistics in a publicly available database comprising some 10,000 records on some 2,200 suicide terrorism attacks, dating back to the first suicide terrorism attack of modern times — the 1983 truck bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, which killed 241 U.S. Marines.
"We have lots of evidence now that when you put the foreign military presence in, it triggers suicide terrorism campaigns, ... and that when the foreign forces leave, it takes away almost 100 percent of the terrorist campaign," Pape said in an interview last week on his findings.

New York (CNN) -- The daughter of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was arrested after police said she shoplifted items at a cosmetic store.
Caroline Giuliani, 20, was charged with one count of petty larceny after the incident at a Sephora skincare and makeup store Wednesday, the New York Police Department said.
She is the younger of Giuliani's two children with his ex-wife, Donna Hanover, a television reporter and actress.
Since his public divorce from Hanover and his marriage to Judith Nathan, Giuliani's relationship with his children has been strained, The New York Times reported in March 2007.
He missed his son's high school graduation and Caroline's plays, The Times reported.
That year, when Giuliani was seeking the Republican nomination for president, Caroline Giuliani's Facebook profile listed her as part of a group that supported then-Illinois Sen. Barack Obama's presidential bid.
After Slate.com emailed her about it, she immediately left the group, the website reported.
In August 2007, Giuliani talked about his daughter at a campaign stop in Clear Lake, Iowa.
"My daughter I love very much," Giuliani said. "I have great respect for her, and I'm really proud of her. And I don't comment on children because I want to give them the maximum degree of privacy. I think children in situations like this deserve to have the maximum degree of privacy. And the best way to preserve that is, except to point out that you love them and care about them and you're very, very proud of them, just don't comment about it."New York (CNN) -- The daughter of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was arrested... more
