As most people probably already know by now, Sunday night’s Academy Awards featured many montages, one of which was described as a “Montage of Oscar Hosts.” That montage included almost every host in the show’s history. But there was one host who was not included, the 4-time host and Academy Awards winner Whoopi Goldberg.
Until now, most writers have described what took place on "The View" the next day simply in terms of how displeased and upset Whoopi's co-hosts were about the slight. However, there is a different, possibly more plausible perspective on what actually took place Monday on "The View." Consider that not only does Whoopi have to suffer the daily indignity of being reduced to just another “chatting-head”, but also that her co-hosts insisted upon going on and on, in front of millions of American people, rubbing in the fact that the Oscar winning and Oscar hosting actress had not been shown in Sunday's montage. Dumb and dumberer Elisabeth Hasselbeck babbled on and on about how it must feel so terrible to have been so slighted. Placing a cherry atop the poison pudding, the ever-duplicitous Barbara Walters intimated that nothing Whoopi had ever done at the Oscars was really a Great Moment anyway.
Whoopi just sat there, looking unbelievably miserable, trying to collect the remaining shards of her dignity that were being scattered around the set. When the others just wouldn’t stop, Whoopi quietly got up and gave each of them “the kiss of death” just to shut their mouths, briefly weeping when she got behind Barbara Walters.
Update: On Tuesday, the producer of the Oscar awards show apologized to Whoopi for leaving her out. The View should be interesting to watch tomorrow.
Photographs, the video of the "Oscar Hosts Montage" and the video of Monday's embarrassing moments on "The View" are included. As most people probably already know by now, Sunday night’s Academy Awards... more

Scientists have for the first time filmed an electron in motion. Electrons, along with quarks, are the smallest particles of matter.
"Each atom has a nucleus of protons and neutrons, with tiny electrons buzzing around. Both protons and neutrons contain three quarks... The electron is sometimes said be a few femtometers across (about a trillionth of a hair's width), but this is misleading. Electrons and quarks are more like puffy clouds than rigid balls.
This puffiness is the result of unavoidable quantum uncertainty: You can't precisely know a particle's motion and position at the same time. If you try to hold a quark still, you would have almost no idea where it is.
Such slipperiness makes exact size measurements meaningless."

Last month Sarah Silverman presented a very funny video to her boyfriend, Jimmy Kimmel, on his television show. Silverman got Matt Damon to sing and dance in the music video, which had Silverman doing unspeakable things with Matt. It was a very, very funny piece.
Jimmy Kimmel swore that he was going to get even with Silverman for that, and now he has in a big, big way!! Immediately after the Oscars show on Sunday night, Kimmel fired back with a true blockbuster effort called “I’m F***king Ben Affleck.”
Kimmel's sweet comeback gayly features celebrity appearances from celebrities that include: Harrison Ford, Cameron Diaz, Don Cheadle, Robin Williams, Huey Lewis, Rebecca Romijn, Macy Gray, Pete Wentz, Dominic Monaghan, Joel and Benji Madden, Josh Groban, Christina Applegate, Meat Loaf, Perry Farrell, Lance Bass, Joan Jett and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. (Hey... what was Josh Groban doin’ showing up here?? Also, he was sitting with Elton John and Ellen DeGeneres at the Oscars…Hmmmm….) In addition, Brad Pitt appears as the birthday cake delivery man, and there’s a full gospel choir singing something along the lines of We are the World!
This one ends up being a true epic, a real hoot!! Photographs and the very funny video are included. Enjoy!!Last month Sarah Silverman presented a very funny video to her boyfriend, Jimmy... more

Synopsis: A young man wakes from a nightmare and finds a camera with footage of what appears to be his own death. (Suspense)
Actors/Models: Beau Ballinger, Maggie Vandehnberg, Amber Alexander, and Robert S. Wilson.
Music: 1) Joselito Sering, original score (dream sequence); and 2) Daniel Peterson, original thematic score.
This is a student short film I directed and produced in 2005-2006 which featured my own original music soundtrack along with collaborator Daniel Peterson. It was shot in San Francisco BART Montgomery and Civic Center station during ORANGE ALERT. We were stopped the first day by BART Police and SWAT showed up. We lied and said we applied for a permit and that the TV/Film Liaison department of BART said to "go ahead" and shoot our "tech rehearsal."
On the second shoot day, we tricked the new SWAT guys into letting us shoot the rest of our "tech rehearsal" and name dropped Officer Washington, their commander, so they did. They jumped off their seats when we told them there was a gun involved.
The SWAT guys were real accommodating and even offered to guard both ends of the hall to warn the public that it was a "tech rehearsal" for a student film about what to do when you find suspicious bags lying around. PERFECT!
This was the second student film I made with actor Beau Ballinger after talking about writing a story that had no dialogue for the main actor and tell the story with his face. I brainstormed with my team about making an existential movie about the dichotomy between destiny and free will while making a dark suspense thriller.
Using the current scare associated with terrorism and bombs, we decided to develop the story around the plot of finding an unattended bag. We used the camera footage plot to twist the existential question and the footage worked as the device for suspense.
This film was praised in several international short film festivals and enjoyed a brief but strong run.

What is most striking about this presidential campaign is how much of it, including the messages, images, music and political organizations, has been produced outside of the actual formal campaign organizations themselves. That’s certainly been true for Paul and Obama. It’s no small wonder that the Clinton and Romney campaigns ended up lagging behind. And now, there's yet another big Obama endorsement, a rousing musical salute from the amazing, legendary Rockabelles.

Last week, Fidel Castro gave up the almost total power he's had in Cuba for nearly 50 years. Given his prolonged illness, Castro's announcement wasn't a big surprise, but it's received a great amount of attention from the media and politicians. However, this article also looks at the extreme urban decay and ruin in Cuba as one of the outcomes of The Cuban Revolution.

I wrote this song while campaigning with the grassroots group United for Obama.
Like many I've felt disfranchised for many years because I saw too many politicians playing games and not backing their promises with actions. In Barack Obama I found a leader that didn't bow down to corporate powers and who fought for what was right no matter what his audience was. He spoke of cutting gas emissions to automakers and addressed the African-American community of the importance of ending discrimination, not only against them, but also within the community, the discrimination against immigrants, the Jewish people or gays and lesbians. This struck a chord with me. We must fight discrimination of all kinds, not because it is personally convenient, but because it is the right thing to do. Because all of us as a society will be better off if we truly embrace equality and justice for all. Here is a man who not only offered a compassionate and effective way to provide affordable health care to all but who also stood firm from the beginning against this indefensible war even when this position was unpopular and politically inconvenient.
I've heard people criticize Barack Obama because he's a great speaker. But it only reveals desperation to try to put down his ability to energize people of all ages, genders and races into becoming more active in the democratic process. What these critics are trying to ignore is the fact that we are not only responding to Barack's eloquence, but also to the truth of his message. It is a message of a more balanced engagement with world, of an economy that is not rigged to benefit the few, a message of tolerance and progress.
It is this message that has awaken me, and so many of our young and old, from our long political slumber. It is this renewed enthusiasm that fuels this vast movement, and it is the plurality, the diversity of this movement which inspired me to write this song.
The lyrics were thoughts that had been growing within me, and I'm sure, many others. Obama galvanized our intentions, this campaign focused my thoughts and these words flowed out of me in a matter of hours.
We recorded the song instantly and it is thanks to Eric Byler, Warren Fu, Loni Pham and Annabel Park that you are able to see the finished product so immediately after the fact.
It was a labor of deep-rooted conviction, born of a desire, not to acerbate antagonism, but to help, in however small measure, to unite those of us who have been waiting for so long for a moment in which to step up and really take charge in the betterment of this world. That's right, we can improve this world. It is not an impossibility. We can do it. Yes we can.
Si, Se puede Cambiar !

"Howard Stringer made history in 2005 for being the first non-Japanese executive to take the helm at Sony Corp. But he may be better remembered as the one who won the high-definition war, erasing the stain on the electronics firm's image ever since it lost the videotape war two decades earlier...
...What remains a mystery is just how big a push Warner needed to pick sides. Analysts say Sony only prevailed following a heated bidding war against Toshiba, with the reward reaching as much as $400-million (U.S.). Neither side has confirmed the size of any bids or payments."

In February, half-naked men in loinclothes and headbands gather in the cold water of a sacred pond to wrestle and sling mud at a shrine on the outskirts of Tokyo. The Dairokuten-no-Hadaka Matsuri is just one of many "naked" festivals in Japan. Hadaka means naked but in actuality the partipants wear a loincloth called a fundoshi. The mudslinging is to ensure good harvest for the year.In February, half-naked men in loinclothes and headbands gather in the cold water of a... more

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton met in Austin (TX) last night for their presidential campaign debate. The first-half was relativly civil, covering issues such as illegal immigration, recognition of the new Cuban government and health care.
At the begininng of the second-half, Clinton made her charge that Obama copied parts of his speeches. This was very poorly received by the audience; it backfired on her, unveiling a crucial moment of Clinton's own vulnerability.

Though no naughty bits showed, the Jenny Kendrick's cocking buttocks and swaying legs proved too much for YouTube users. They flagged the videos as inappropriate so many times, Jenny's account and videos were removed.
And shortly after Wired wrote about Michael Sullivan’s Sex Life of Robots, a film the artist likens to a “silent robot porno movie from another planet,” YouTube pulled the preview video from their site. The YouTube user experience continues to downgrade with the removal of a 19yr... more

This is a completed visual edit of a scene for my feature length directorial debut "Bizarre Love Pentagram." This was shot in Summer 2007 at Mt. Davidson in the heart of San Francisco. Sound is not complete and the music featured is not cleared. I will, however, write my own score for this scene.
The scene follows the epiphany of a confused and young absentee father, Venom, lamenting at the news of his own father's death who he hasn't seen since he was 9 years old. It's his 27th birthday and he received a video camera from his ex-girlfriend, Stella, mother of his child. He opens the camera and finds a recording of his 3 year old son.
Actor/Model: Beau Ballinger
Music: 1) Morningrunner "Oceans"; 2) Maximillian Hecker "Help Me"
