"The words highlighted above are the perfect summation of how I feel about my father. However, we are bound like a book, and I believe our words, like a novel, are already written. Read this post which is so dear to my heart and let me know your thoughts. I think anyone with a father can relate somehow to this piece. Maybe Ethers, you can give me SOME hope? If we keep using the book analogy...and the picture above....the page is not fully printed. Maybe there's time to add more text to it."
This is a blog that is so touching, so well-written and anyone with a parent can relate to. This is a must-read. Really. Unbelievable. The best post I've read in forever. I cried. The caption under the picture reads:

Architects of a massive "digital cloud" structure that would "float" above London's skyline are hoping the general public will fund the thing through micro-donations.
The construction would include 120m- (400ft-) tall mesh towers and a series of interconnected plastic bubbles that can be used to display images and data.
Known as The Cloud, it would also be used as an observation deck and a park.
The team of architects, artists and engineers say they can fund their cloud with £5m or £50m, with the size of it depending on how much money they receive.
"We can build our Cloud with £5m or £50m. The flexibility of the structural system will allow us to tune the size of the Cloud to the level of funding that is reached.
It's one of collection of designs shortlisted in a competition to built a tourist attraction in London's Olympic Park, set-up by Mayor Boris Johnson. The Cloud hasn't won yet but the team behind it have cheekily decided to release details, presumably to garner public support and show funding is possible.
So would you donate? I think if I was to part with my money for a project like this I'd prefer to give it to younger, less-funded artists for a project that benefits people more directly than giving them a nice view. Saying that, it looks very cool indeed and would look brilliant on London's skyline.
Two men found guilty of starting a fire that killed a 17-year-old girl and her grandmother in London have been jailed for life, with a minimum of 25 years.
Jake Sheehan, 20, of Bethnal Green, and David Philip, 19, from Bow, had denied murdering the pair over a £15 debt.
Shannen Vickers and Pauline Adams, 57, were asleep when petrol was poured through the letterbox of their flat in Mile End in February and set alight.
They died as a result of smoke inhalation, post-mortem tests found. Their pet cat and dog also died.
[This in my opinion is a really interesting article to read, share, and debate over.]
If you happened to be present in the Anglican Church on London’s Trafalgar Square a few nights ago, you might believe it to be so.
Barclay’s Catholic CEO, John Varley, addressed a captive church audience, “If we fail to pay or are constrained from paying competitive rates then that talent will move to another employer.” Nothing is odd about that statement coming from a banking executive except that Varley was justifying bonuses on purely Christian principles.
In Varley’s view “Christianity and capitalism are compatible” because, “The injunction of Jesus to love others as ourselves is an endorsement of self-interest.”
Okay. Is he seriously tying Self-Interest to the Golden Rule? I wonder if Mr. Varley would have liked his 85 year-old mother to be tricked into a 30 year adjustable mortgage? I can’t be certain, but I don’t think predatory loans were what Jesus had in mind.
Varley’s speech is part of a concerted effort by London’s Christian Association of Business Executives to quell the growing rage against bankers. Also making the church rounds were Goldman Sachs’ International adviser Brian Griffiths and Lazard International Chairman Ken Costa.
Following a lecture at St. Paul’s Cathedral, a member of the congregation said, “People are very, very angry at the gross iniquity of rewards in society.” Griffiths responded with, “We have to tolerate the inequality as a way to achieving greater prosperity and opportunity for all.” He really said that? It’s kind of like the modern equivalent of “Let them eat cake.”

Goldman's reputation is suddenly as toxic as the credit default swaps and other inexplicably exotic financial instruments it used to buy with glee. That's bad for the one thing it values more than anything else: business. Being the prime target for popular and political outrage could put Goldman first in line for draconian new regulation. So it has, reluctantly, decided that the time has come to speak out, to fight its corner. That's how, on one of those bright autumnal New York mornings when anything seems possible -- even an invitation to break bread with the masters of the universe -- I find myself walking past the security guard who held up Michael Moore and into the building with no name.

General Khodaidad Khodaidad said the majority of drugs are stockpiled in two provinces controlled by troops from the US, the UK, and Canada, IRNA reported on Saturday.
He went on to say that NATO forces are taxing the production of opium in the regions under their control.
Afghanistan is the world’s biggest supplier of opium.
Drug production in the Central Asian country has increased dramatically since the US-led invasion eight years ago.
A recent report by the United Nations states that Afghan opium is having a devastating impact on the world, killing thousands in consumer countries.
Meanwhile, The New York Times reported on Wednesday that Ahmad Wali Karzai, a brother of the Afghan president, is involved in the opium trade, meets with Taliban leaders, and is also a CIA operative.

A few weeks ago I posted an entry about a meeting in the House of Commons in London. The second meeting will be monday 2nd November.
With great support from a fairtrade coffee business, a full page advert was placed in one of our national newspapers, the Independent, on Saturday 31st October.
There will be a public meeting afterwards because the private meeting is for MPs and aides only.

Professor John Beddington, the UK's chief scientist, would not be drawn on whether the Home Secretary was wrong to sack Professor David Nutt.
David Nutt was chair of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs.
He was fired after using a lecture to say cannabis was less harmful than alcohol and tobacco.
Asked whether he agreed with Professor Nutt's view that cannabis was less harmful than cigarettes and alcohol, Professor Beddington replied: "I think the scientific evidence is absolutely clear cut. I would agree with it."Professor John Beddington, the UK's chief scientist, would not be drawn on whether the... more
