The mountain pine beetle has been making a tinderbox out of the Rockies in the past decade. The epidemic can be attributed to global warming. All it takes in the winter is one night of -40F temperatures to exterminate the menace. However, Colorado has been experiencing mild winters for the last decade and the once natural balance that existed amidst the pines has been knocked awry. Truthfully, there isn’t much we as Coloradoans can do about it.The mountain pine beetle has been making a tinderbox out of the Rockies in the past... more

The biggest working sanitary landfill in the United States, located right outside Los Angeles, is so much more than a garbage dump: it is an environmentally-safe recycling haven where even unrecyclable waste can be turned into clean bioenergy fuels and lots and lots of power (it is one of the largest power generators in the state of California).
Landfills are the nation's second largest source of manmade methane pollution. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas and a contributor to the smog air pollution.
While landfills such as Puente Hills in Los Angeles are realizing the economic benefits of capturing and utilizing the energy from methane, there are still hundreds of landfills across the nation missing this critical opportunity.
See what can de done and do pass on the good news :)The biggest working sanitary landfill in the United States, located right outside Los... more

If you ever have wondered what it's like looking through the lens of a photographer at one of craziest top ten film festivals? Look no further. This is my frenetic montage of my journey at SXSW 2008. It includes my drive to Austin, the film, interactive, and music parts of the festival.
Using the fresh new picturevideo style of documentary, I captured all the exciting moments, the parties, the mobile phones, the musicians, the internet celebrities, and everything that went on during the SXSW 2008 event held in Austin, Texas.
As a filmmaker, it was neat to see the filmmaker community embrace this video as they did. This video was reblogged on variety.com, cinematical, indiewire, and filmmakermagazine.com. All photos shot on my Canon 40D. Each photo plays for 3 frames on the timeline.
