GREEK PURGE! Thousands of illegal (mostly Muslim) aliens rounded up and readied for deportation
The Greek office of the UN High Commission for refugees said that while Greece has the right to carry out checks on immigrants, it must ensure that vulnerable groups do not suffer.
Spokesman Petros Mastakas said: ‘It is very difficult for Muslim (entitlement whores) to apply for protected status, and we are concerned that among those arrested there may be people who want protection but were unable to submit their requests because access to the relevant authorities is practically impossible.’GREEK PURGE! I have been expecting Greek yields to surpass 100% and here we are, and still with no comment from ECB president Jean-Claude Trichet.
Meanwhile the U.S. 10-Year treasury yield hit a new all-time low of 1.89% and the German 10-Year bond yield hit a new all-time low of 1.72%
Yield on the 10-year Italian bond rose .06 to 5.47%.
So, what's Trichet going to do for his going away party?

From Zeus to Hercules, it seems every character from Greek mythology has his or her own movie, television series, or book. With so much out there, it can be increasingly difficult to get the real story from Hollywood or New York publishing houses. If you are interested in learning Greek mythology as it was meant to be heard, the internet can also be a confusing place.

Time to go back to those Ancient Greece and Rome films and start adding in some colour to those grey statues. Archaeologists discovered through UV light and infra-red scans that the famed ancient statues were originally covered in bright (and kinda horrid) colours.

THESSALONIKI, Greece (AP) - Greek officials say a horde of frogs has forced the closure of a key northern highway for two hours.
Thessaloniki traffic police chief Giorgos Thanoglou says "millions" of the amphibians covered the tarmac Wednesday near the town of Langadas, some 12 miles east of Thessaloniki.
"There was a carpet of frogs," he said.
Authorities closed the highway after three car drivers skidded off the road trying to dodge the frogs. No human injuries were reported.
Thanoglou said the amphibians probably left a nearby lake to look for food.THESSALONIKI, Greece (AP) - Greek officials say a horde of frogs has forced the... more

SuperNews! released the sequel to Douchey-Doo!: The Myster of The VIP List. Since there have been two, I'm tempted to call them a duology, one less than a trilogy. While this term has been used, it should be clear that this word has no Greek equivalent, in the way that "Trilogy" does.
Now that we've overcome the semantics. Who's ready to watch these douchebags seek out sluts... at a pool party!

I've discovered more things about the naming of the so-called turkey.
The reason the English word for Meleagris gallopavo is because when turkeys were brought back to the old world, they were transported from from present day Turkey in the Ottoman Empire. They called these birds Turkey Fowl. Eventually they shortened it to it's present name.
This bird's strange appearance, has made people think the bird is exotic. People only knew where they got the bird from, so they presumed that it was from that country, and named it after that country.
In Greek gallopoulameans French Chicken.
In French poulet d’inde means Chicken of India.
The Portuguese word is Peru as in the South American nation.
In Malay, it is called either Ayam Piru from the Portuguese or Ayam Belanda which translates as Dutch chicken.
In Dutch they use the word kalkoen, which is derived from Calicut, a city in the Indian state of Kerala.
In Turkey they call the bird hindi because it relates to India.
And when you get to Vietnam, which is traditionally thought of as the exotic far east, they translate the bird as gà tây, “Western chicken”.
A reason that the New World bird is associated with the 'exotic east' is because people thought the Americas were actually part of Asia.
In parts of Eastern Asia, at least they get creative with their names for Guajolote. In Chinese 火鸡 means "fire chicken." The Japanese, シチメンチョウ / 七面鳥 and Korean 칠면조 / 七面鳥 mean "seven-faced bird."
This is a list of languages that saw the indigenous American poultry, and so these names are appropriate words for Meleagris gallopavo.
In Blackfoot, it is called ómahksipi'kssíí, meaning “big bird”.
In Lakota, it is waglekšun.
In Miami, it is nalaaohki pileewa, meaning “native fowl”.
In Ojibwe, it is mizise
In Passamaquoddy, it is nem.
In Central Mexico it is guajolote from the Nahuatl hueyxolotl.
In Mayan it is called chumpipe.
I want to give partial credit to Farsi who named the bird after it's onomatopoeic word بوقلمون, "Boogalamoon."
That is a lot of names for one bird. Which one do you like the best?

The German tabloid Bild has advised Greeks to adopt a more Germanic work ethic, by rising earlier and working harder, in order to solve the country's current financial crisis.
This comes after comments made by German politicians on Thursday suggesting that Greece sell off its artefacts, art historical buildings and islands to raise funds before accepting help from international aid.
Click the link to read the open letter from Bild to Mr Papandreou, the Greek Prime Minister which includes comments such as
"In this country, the petrol stations have cash registers, the taxi drivers give receipts and farmers don’t swindle EU subsidies with millions of olive trees that don’t exist"

Possibly pointing to the long-sought location of Alexandria's royal quarters, the ruins of the Ptolemaic-era building have been unearthed at the Kom el Dikka area in the Mediterranean city founded by Alexander the Great around 331 B.C.
The temple contained a number of statues of the cat Goddess Bastet, suggesting that it may have been dedicated to her. It would be the first Ptolemaic era Temple dedicated to Bastet to be found in Alexandria and suggests that worship of Bastet continued even after the decline of the Pharaohs.
