Cops are hunting for a group of robbers caught on camera assaulting a cabbie in Staten Island while wearing Halloween costumes of the popular video game characters.
The four young men were in a yellow cab around 4 a.m. on Nov. 1, apparently after a Halloween party, when one of them reached into the driver's pocket, police said on Wednesday.
The hack, 48, stopped at a gas station at 863 Arthur Kill Road in Great Kills and asked the suspects to pay and leave. Instead, they beat him up, stole his cash and fled, cops said.
A surveillance video shows two of the men - wearing colorful overalls and caps resembling Mario and Luigi - wrestling the cabbie while a third man dressed in a tuxedo appears to act as a lookout.Cops are hunting for a group of robbers caught on camera assaulting a cabbie in Staten... more
Police are on the hunt for a driver suspected of with more than 10 million euros.
The van normally operates with 3 men on board, however when 2 of the men returned after making deliveries they found the van had gone. It was later found abandoned with suspicion pointed at the driver who had also cleared out his entire flat.
Unsurprisingly, it is thought to have been pre-planned.
Charles Dunstone, the chief executive of TalkTalk, fears the Government's plans to boost rural broadband coverage will penalise poorer households.
Mr Dunstone estimates that around 100,000 lower income households will be forced to give up their own internet connections in able to cover the 50p per month tax that will be added to all domestic phone bills to fund the roll-out of next-generation broadband networks.
The tax, which was first proposed in the Digital Britain report, published in June, will last for around seven years, costing each household a total of £42 and raising about £1 billion for investment in high-speed fibre networks. The Government has pledged to ensure universal internet access at speeds of at least two megabits per second by 2012.
What exactly do they think people will do with a connection 2 mb's per second? make's me laugh when companies offer amazing download speeds...for downloading!
and they say they want to stop us from downloading, yet give us the ability to aquire files even quicker?
But as the governments mentality goes 'when in doubt, tax people'! just like climate change, we cant control it if companies are dumping there waste left right and centre, yet we've been bombarded with taxes everywhere.
The internet is a right, and when your already paying for it, why do they have to go and add more tax onto it.

A man in Germany who was on his way to a police station to be questioned for a robbery, thought that, on the way to the police he might as well make use of his time and rob another store.
'It was a case of "just nipping out to do a bit of thieving before being interrogated for shoplifting",' police in the western region of Lippe said on Tuesday.
The police only became aware of the thiefs master plan when he walked into the police station reception and matched a description given to the police by the store clerk earlier that morning.

Police were called to Partington Leisure Centre, Trafford, shortly before 2.30pm on Monday 19 October, after an alarm went off.
Three men are thought to have been attempting to steal money from a security van parked outside.
As they tried to make their escape in a black BMW, they appear to shunt a police van out of the way, apparently knocking an officer to the ground and then running him over.
Well sometimes it seems police officers have no care for human life (in the case of Ian Tomlinson, G20 protests, The soldier back from Iraq who was beaten by police and so on)
and it seems like they had no care for a police officers life, whats the world coming to? people will do anything for money!Police were called to Partington Leisure Centre, Trafford, shortly before 2.30pm on... more

Men are not born stupid, but there are many political and economic interests in the world which want them to be so. Often we think that ignorance is the reason why many people support obviously inadequate governments, but in reality is something much more serious than ignorance, is education to self-destruction. The noise alarm one of its inhabitants, who immediatly tries to stop the thief.Men are not born stupid, but there are many political and economic interests in the... more

Ever come home to find that you forgot to bring your welcome mat inside and some mug has stolen it? Well heres a story that takes that to a whole new extreme.
Linzi and Phil Wood claim that a rocky path, hanging baskets, plant pots and last but not least a £600 shed have been moved into their neighbours, Brian Johnson's, garden.
The mother of four, Linzi, said she had seen jobless Mr Johnson only once since she came back and he told her he had bought the garden objects for £220 from a 'third party' known to her 28-year-old husband.
Theres a picture at the link showing all the items originally in Mrs Wood's garden.
