Dogs are awesome. And the only thing more awesome than a dog is a flying dog.
Yeah, yeah, so dogs can't really fly, but if you capture them in a photo at the right time, you can hardly tell the difference.
Holy Taco has posted a great gallery of the best flying dog photos EVER.

The European plane manufacturer Airbus, are studying was to construct aircrafts with silent flight patterns, as a means to reduce the level of noise often created by the structures.
Their inspiration comes from the quite, stealth-like approach of owls hunting on prey. Airbus have become intrigued by this, to the point where they are looking to manipulate airflow, similar to that of an owl's wing and body angle, as well as positioning of feathers.

Because nothing says I have an obscene amount of money like flying around the world in your hotel, that's actually a helicopter.
Clearly thinking the world has had enough of hotels on terra firma, a bunch of Soviet engineers have made what they're calling "the world's first flying hotel," which features "18 luxuriously-appointed rooms for adrenaline junkies seeking a truly unique and memorable travel experience."
According to their official website, each room is completely soundproofed with 'queen-sized beds, fine linens, a mini-bar, coffee machine, wireless internet access, and all the luxurious appointments you’d expect from a flying five star hotel.'
The Hotelicopter's first flight will be for a fortnight taking in the sites of New York, Charleston, Freeport, Montego Bay, Santo Domingo, Nassau, Miami as well as Charlotte. All lovely to know, but let's face it, the majority of us could probably only just afford a diecast model...Because nothing says I have an obscene amount of money like flying around the world in... more

The first 'plausible' "flying car/ drivable airplane" made its first official flight earlier this month, no doubt exciting the legions of wannabe car fliers.
The Terrafugia Transition admittedly isn't the most beautiful of road cars, but name me one sexy car that can can fly...

A pilot who crashed, killing himself and a 13-year-old boy whom he had offered a birthday treat flight, had taken Ecstasy, an inquest was told yesterday.
Robert Gunter, 34, stalled his Cessna 150 seconds after take-off and nosedived from 200ft at Clutton Hill, an airstrip in North Somerset. Mr Gunter and his passenger, Jamie Clapp, who had never flown before, died instantly when the aircraft hit the ground and burst into flames.
The pilot was already being investigated by the Civil Aviation Authority for navigational mistakes and “questionable airmanship” during two flights in January and March 2007. The crash happened in July 2007, before the investigation could be completed.A pilot who crashed, killing himself and a 13-year-old boy whom he had offered a... more

Sir Richard Branson has launched a global competition to find the best Richard ‘look-a-like’, as part of Virgin Atlantic’s 25th birthday celebrations this year.
The quest to find a carbon copy of Sir Richard began at Madame Tussauds in London on Saturday morning where he came face to face with his own waxwork - and 25 Richard 'wannabes'.
He now embarks on an epic 8 day round-the-world trip with the Virgin Atlantic look-a-like spot squad.
The journey will include the inaugural flight of V Australia – Virgin’s new airline launching on 27th February. The airline will fly between Sydney and LA, and for the first time will allow passengers to fly around the world on the same airline carrier.
If you bear an uncanny resemblance to Sir Richard, visit Virgin Atlantic’s Facebook page
www.facebook.com/virginatlantic
and simply upload your picture for a chance to win. The best look-a-like of the competition will win two return flights and VIP tickets to Virgin Atlantic’s exclusive 25th birthday party in New York (terms and conditions apply).Sir Richard Branson has launched a global competition to find the best Richard... more

Ryanair, the cheapest, bestest, lucky if you have seatbelts let alone leg room airline, is now raising the bar and allowing (for a trial period) passengers to use their mobile phones in the air!!!!! At about £3 a min airtime (more expensive the more air you have around you i suppose) it seems to be something you could expect on every airline in the future.
And sending a normally very free e-mail that i like to call free-mail will now set you back between £1 and £2 which means i might have to rename it pound-mail (sigh). The technology is so advanced that a whopping six people can use their phones all at one time!! Gosh i hope i'm not waiting for my call behind a stutterer.Ryanair, the cheapest, bestest, lucky if you have seatbelts let alone leg room... more

A Boston-area company plans to begin flight tests this year of a 2 seater airplane that moonlights as a car.
The aptly named Transition takes a stab at bridging the gap between automobiles and airplanes. Some people call it a flying car. The company designing and selling the vehicle prefers "roadable aircraft."
Either way, it boils down to this: You sit down behind the steering wheel, drive to the runway, unfold two wings and take off. You can fly 500 miles on a tank of gas -- regular unleaded -- and when you land, you simply fold up the wings and drive where you want to go. At the end of the day, you fly back, drive home and park inside your garage.A Boston-area company plans to begin flight tests this year of a 2 seater airplane... more

Tamera Jo Freeman was on a Frontier Airlines flight to Denver in 2007 when her two children began to quarrel over the window shade and then spilled a Bloody Mary into her lap.
She spanked each of them on the thigh with three swats. It was a small incident, but one that in the heightened anxiety after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks would eventually have enormous ramifications for Freeman and her children.
A flight attendant confronted Freeman, who responded by hurling a few profanities and throwing what remained of a can of tomato juice on the floor.
The incident aboard the Frontier flight ultimately led to Freeman's arrest and conviction for a federal felony defined as an act of terrorism under the Patriot Act, the controversial federal law enacted after the 2001 attacks in New York and Washington.
"I had no idea I was breaking the law," said Freeman, 40, who spent three months in jail before pleading guilty.
Freeman is one of at least 200 people on flights who have been convicted under the amended law. In most of the cases, there was no evidence that the passengers had attempted to hijack the airplane or physically attack any of the flight crew. Many have simply involved raised voices, foul language and drunken behavior.
Some security experts say the use of the law by airlines and their employees has run amok, criminalizing incidents that did not start out as a threat to public safety, much less an act of terrorism.
In one case, a couple was arrested after an argument with a flight attendant, who claimed the couple was engaged in "overt sexual activity" -- an FBI affidavit said the two were "embracing, kissing and acting in a manner that made other passengers uncomfortable."
"We have gone completely berserk on this issue," said Charles Slepian, a New York security consultant. "These are not threats to national security or threats to aircraft, but we use that as an excuse."
Justice Department spokesman Dean Boyd defended the prosecutions, saying that they have helped improve airline security. He added that the department has only pursued prosecution "when the facts and circumstances of a particular case warrant such action."
Indeed, the law has given airlines new flexibility to clamp down on unruly behavior. But the intent of the Patriot Act provisions was to put terrorists in violation of the law before they could execute an actual takeover, said Nathan Sales, a law professor at George Mason University who helped write the Patriot Act when he served in the Justice Department.
But Sales acknowledged that in the fervor to protect the skies, the practical application of the law has strayed.
"A woman spanking her child is not as great a threat to aviation as members of Al Qaeda with box cutters. That much is clear," he said...Tamera Jo Freeman was on a Frontier Airlines flight to Denver in 2007 when her two... more

Business leaders are backing the project, because it will allow them a bigger choice of flights to their holiday homes, and perhaps create a few minimum wage jobs as well.
Business Secretary Lord Mandelson denied that the decision utterly contradicted the government's commitment to environmental concerns. "It's a classic dilemma - I can't get the bloody train to Corfu, but we're also over a barrel with all the climate change bollocks. By adding a train line to the plans, we should just be able to get away with it."Business leaders are backing the project, because it will allow them a bigger choice... more
