This week is looking rather empty as far as confirmed content is concerned, but we’re brimming with rumored content. The highlight of the week is LocoRoco Midnight Carnival the first PSP game available that can be played with the PSPgo in it’s closed position. Other than that Inferno Pool finally makes it stateside, and Zombie Apocalypse finally makes its way to Europe. We’re expecting another Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time demo, although nothing has been confirmed. This second demo takes you through a mission with Ratchet, whereas the last demo was focused on Clank’s new time-manipulation gameplay. Other than that, expect your normal barrage of Rock Band DLC.This week is looking rather empty as far as confirmed content is concerned, but... more

And you thought $300 fake guitars were too much? They ain't got nothing -- nothing -- on this. Altec Lansing, the outfit famous for making those tinny speakers slammed into your laptop, has just popped out what could very well be the most hilarious non-KIRF product of the year. The Stage-Gig is modeled after a traditional wedge monitor, complete with the perforated grille, white spray-paint logo and carry handle (for "authentic roadie portability"). Within, you'll find a 6.5-inch driver and a 40-watt amplifier, and the idea here is to plug your console's audio directly in, enabling the Rock Band / Guitar Hero axe-slinger in your life to feel as if they're "playing in a live concert." It'll land next month for $99.95, and despite the fact that we can't stifle our chuckling, we want one in the worst way. And so do you, Dr. Love. And you thought $300 fake guitars were too much? Team Courtney Love is finally expanding on why she's so pissed off at the makers of Guitar Hero -- and it seems her beef is over the songs that the digital
version of her husband is forced to sing in the game.
TMZ spoke with Love's attorney who told us Cobain's widow did give permission for the game makers to use Kurt's name and likeness -- but she never, ever signed off on a deal that would allow them to make Kurt sing Bon Jovi tunes in the game.
Love's lawyer told us, "Activision is exploiting Kurt's image in a manner anathema to the very essence of his music, spirit and essence.
I along with Ms. Cobain hope those who love Kurt's music strongly voice their sentiments to Activision and demand his image not be debased by singing the songs of Bon Jovi.

Some people have found Kurt Cobain's posthumous appearance in Guitar Hero 5 a little unsettling -- including his widow, Courtney Love.
In a Twitter tirade for the ages, the former Hole frontwoman announced plans to sue Guitar Hero 5 publisher Activision over the way her late husband was represented in the game, reports The Guardian.
"For the record this Guitar Hero [expletive] is breach of contract on a Bullys part and there will be a proper addressing of this and retraction," she posted on her Twitter account. "WE are going to sue the [expletive] out of ACtivision we being the Trust the Estate the LLC the various LLCs Cobain Enterprises."

By now you’ve seen the clip of a digitized Kurt Cobain rocking his way through Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name” on Guitar Hero 5. It’s an image so bizarre, it not only freaked out Rolling Stone, but sent Courtney Love into a Twitter rampage as she began responding to critics arguing she sold Kurt out with the GH5 avatar. In one colorful Tweet, Love essentially blames Dave Grohl for the playable Cobain, writing to someone who accosted her on Twitter, “you can assrape dave he was always a bad seed and is stillriding the shit while i take bullets if theres a hell hes going. im not.”
In a statement issued this afternoon, Grohl and Novoselic say they are “dismayed and very disappointed in the way a facsimile of Kurt is used in the Guitar Hero game,” adding, “The name and likeness of Kurt Cobain are the sole property of his estate — we have no control whatsoever in that area.”By now you’ve seen the clip of a digitized Kurt Cobain rocking his way through Bon... more
So The Beatles: Rock Band hits shelves tomorrow and the gaming world is holding its breath in anticipation, waiting to see if Harmonix does the band’s legacy proud.
(We just reviewed it – spoiler warning: they do)
But one has to wonder what would have happened if That Competing Music Game Franchise had gotten their hands on the license first. The horror… the horror…
Warning: the following video is parody. That means it’s a joke, not to be taken seriously. "A little while back, we reported that Johnny Cash would appear as an unlockable character in the new video game "Guitar Hero 5", which came out yesterday. That was weird.
But we didn't know about the game's biggest, weirdest surprise: You can also unlock fellow deceased legend Kurt Cobain and make him do all kinds of totally embarrassing shit!"

Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas's forthcoming debut solo LP, Phrazes for the Young, is coming out sometime this fall. It has a cool-looking cover that pays tribute to the famed dog 'n' gramophone logo of the singer's label, RCA. Also: We want one of those sleek, bright-buttoned Guitar Hero-esque hollow bodies.
Casablancas made his live debut over the weekend in Tokyo, playing an exclusive after party for fashion mecca Opening Ceremony. Naturally, there are a few front row YouTube clips from the gig featuring the singer awkwardly dancing in a questionable vest-- check those out in the link.
