With the increased pressure over the phone hacking scandal for NoTW and the departure of Andy Coulson, it now stated more newspapers could be caught with hacking phones.
It is stated at four people who suspect they were hacked by newspapers who are not in connection to News Group, pointing out it is believed the practice was wide spread. It is said the legal claims are in stages where they are in contact with police and phone companies to gather any evidence on a hack.
"This was almost kids' playtime. It was such a widespread practice. Although it is a crime, people were regarding it as though it was driving at 35mph in a 30mph zone, that you just sort of do it and hope you don't get caught."-Guardian
The scandal took another hit, after this weekend there is unconfirmed report Gordon Brown contacted the police to find out if he was a victim of a hack.
"Mr Brown's office would not comment on the reports, while Scotland Yard also declined to respond to the latest allegations. However Ms Harman said that if the law had been broken "it should be investigated by the police and it should be enforced"."-Evening Standard http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23916602-met-under-pressure-over-phone-hacking-as-gordon-brown-says-messages-may-have-been-tapped.doWith the increased pressure over the phone hacking scandal for NoTW and the departure... more

The U.S. and Washington hold grave fears about the security of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons and Arab leaders are privately urging an attack on Iran, according to reports based on classified U.S. embassy cables leaked to major media news organizations by the whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks.
The first tranche of more than 250,000 classified cables also says American officials were also told to spy on the United Nations’ leadership and get biometric information on its secretary general Ban Ki-moon.
These revelations alone would be likely to reverberate around the world. But the secret dispatches, which were obtained by WikiLeaks also reveal Washington’s evaluation of many other highly sensitive international issues.
These include a shift in relations between China and North Korea, high-level concerns over Pakistan’s growing instability, and details of clandestine U.S. efforts to combat al-Qaida in Yemen.
The UK’s The Guardian also reports U.S. diplomats had been ordered by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to spy on allies, including the UN. Top secret cables revealed that Mrs Clinton even ordered diplomats to obtain DNA data – including iris scans and fingerprints – as well as credit card and frequent flier numbers.
All permanent members of the security council – including Russia, China, France and the UK – were targeted by the secret spying mission, as well as the Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki-Moon.
Work schedules, email addresses, fax numbers, website identifiers and mobile numbers were also demanded by Washington. The US also wanted ‘biographic and biometric information on UN Security Council permanent representatives.’
The request could break international law and threatens to derail any trust between the U.S. and other powerful nations.

“That global ethic can infuse the fairness and responsibility that is necessary for these institutions to work, but we should not lose the chance in this generation, in this decade in particular, with President Obama in America, with other people working with us around the world, to create global institutions for the environment, and for finance, and for security and for development, that make sense of our responsibility to other peoples, our desire to bind the world together, and our need to tackle problems that everybody knows exist.” -Gordon Brown, Prime Minister UK
Gordon Brown is talking about what many people are calling global governance, or when they aren’t mincing words, global government. Similar calls are made from Council on Foreign Relations members like Fareed Zakaria, a regular contributor for propaganda clearing house “Newsweek” in articles like “Writing the Rules for a New World.”
Global problems, they argue, need global solutions. Global problems like the H1N1 Swine Flu pandemic, which later turned out to be over-hyped by industry insiders. Global problems like the current economic melt down perpetrated by the very financial institutions and regulatory organizations seeking additional authority and consolidation with even less oversight than before. Global problems like “terrorism” and “conflict” that the globalists are firmly, undoubtedly behind. Indeed, they are proposing global government to solve these global problems, they themselves are making.
These are immensely powerful people, the remnants of the European empires and the by-product of America’s “Manifest Destiny” seeking global consolidation through these “global institutions.”
But what Gordon Brown says in the beginning is absolutely right. The people’s means of communicating allows them to understand and solve problems faster and more efficiently. What he is proposing however, is to take this grassroots power away from the people and channel it through elitist controlled “global institutions.” What is more insulting, is that the examples he uses to invoke our sympathy and support for his call for global institutionalization, are all contrived, engineered, or perpetrated by the elite he is a representative of.
The Vietnam War was executed by the Americans. The death of Iranian dissident Neda was during U.S. backed unrest in Iran. Global warming has also fallen on its face as an absolute fraud, with carbon trading banks putting up “Carbon Clocks” then being caught defrauding this still in utero carbon market before the real scam even began.
Gordon Brown is a used-car salesman. He has something of such utter worthlessness, of such questionable quality, and is attempting to sell it to you to your own detriment and to his own benefit. A man like this, no matter how expensive the suit, no matter what the introduction given, no matter how sympathy-evoking his slides are, is nothing more than a salesman looking to cheat you.
The world is already becoming a better place, where immense corruption and the criminals purveying it are being exposed, and the tide of justice and equality is being turned because of decentralized, grassroots efforts, utilizing technology, communication, and soon, personal manufacturing. Don’t let used-car salesmen like Gordon Brown convince you of handing over this great equalizer to him and his “global institutions.”“That global ethic can infuse the fairness and responsibility that is necessary... more

Tony Blair triggered Labour civil war last night as he tried to demolish Gordon Brown’s character and record as prime minister – and hand the party leadership to David Miliband. His memoir took spectacular revenge on his long-time rival, who he describes as ‘maddening’ and ‘impossible’. And Mr Blair shocked Labour MPs as he went on to back the Coalition’s economic policy.

Clive Stafford-Smith has published a letter sent to Sir Peter Gibson – the man elected by David Cameron to lead the inquiry into whether the UK has been complicit in the torture of terrorism suspects – that calls for him to renounce his position. The letter was written on behalf of Reprieve (http://www.reprieve.org.uk/), an organisation which represents prisoners held ‘beyond the rule of law’ or those facing the death penalty, and which represented Binyam Mohamed in the trial which cleared his name of any connections with any terrorist acts.

RT HON GORDON BROWN MP: Our position was not that. Our position was to support action so that the will of the international community -- that Saddam Hussein disclose and dispose of weapons -- be reinforced. And at the back of my mind was this sense that, if the international community did not act here, then the international community would find it difficult to gain credibility for acting in other areas, and this New World Order that we were trying to create was being put at risk.

If the recent British elections have taught us anything, it’s that we’re not mean enough to our politicians.
On Wednesday’s Daily Show, Jon Stewart and John Oliver discussed the various techniques Britain employed to shame former prime minister Gordon Brown on his way out: He was kicked out of his house, forced to call the queen, and dragged in front of a slew of camera people — with his family in tow.
It makes one think: couldn’t we have been a little meaner to George W. Bush last January?

Nick Clegg has given himself 24 hours to come to a decision over whether he'll form a coalition government with the Tories, team up with a number of other parties to form a rainbow coaltition deal with Labour or let the Conservatives' Queen's speech go through but tackle individual legistation on a day-to-day basis.
Clegg has held personal meetings with both David Cameron and Gordon Brown while, behind closed doors, negotiating teams for each party are attempting to form agreements.
Over the weekend, protesters met outside the building where talks were talking place between the Lib Dems and Conservatives, to demand Nick Clegg doesn't back down on electoral reform as a condition of any coalition. Labour has offered a full reforendum on voting if the Lib Dems team up with them but David Cameron wouldn't have the backing of his MPs if he attempted to make a similiar offer. The Independent reports that Cameron's "dangled the prospect of several cabinet jovs to the Liberal Democrats, but both sides believe a looser government is more likely as they edge towards a deal."
The Guardian says Gordon Brown's been told it's time to go by a number of his MPs. Before the election, the Lib Dems made it clear that no long-term coaltion deal could be done with Labour with Gordon Brown at the helm. Pressure is on Brown to announce that he'd only be a transitional figure in any Lib-Lab pact.
Channel 4 News reports that Clegg and Brown may have met face to face this morning.
Some timings from The Times: The Conservatives and Lib Dems restarted talks at 10am today; the Liberal leadership meets at 1pm; the Tories gater at 6pm.

If you voted for the Liberal Democrats (better if they won the seat) where do you want the vote to go?
The phone calls between the Liberal Democrats and the other parties started today, so far (as typed) Nick Clegg talked to David Cameron over the phone. It's reported a second call is planned between Clegg and Cameron. BBC journalists are speculating what the second phone call means on coalition updates, while saying the Labour HQ remains optimistic (very likely to get phone call talks too). Face to Face talks also planned, early news says it's not going to feature the party leaders.
Earlier all three party leaders set where they stand on negotiations, full information in link.
However, many are expecting Nick Clegg will meet with the new Lib Dem MPs before announcing any kind of decision. The smaller parties are also being included in talks to back parties.

A sunglasses-wearing candidate from the 'Landless Peasant Party' who stood with his fist raised behind Gordon Brown has become an unlikely internet hit - despite only getting 57 votes in the actual election.
Derek Jackson, who ran in Gordon Brown's constituency of Kirkcaldy & Cowdenbeath under the 'Land is power' slogan, stood behind the prime minister with his fist raised throughout Brown's speech which appears to have made him a memorable candidate.
Within minutes, a Facebook page dedicated to him - titled 'The man with his fist up behind Gordon Brown' - had been set up. At the time of writing, 1,290 people had given it their seal of approval - over twenty times the number of votes actually gained by Jackson, who came in last, 29,502 votes behind Gordon Brown.

It's Conservative 305 (+97) 36.1%, Labour 258 (-91) 29.1% and Liberal Democrats 57 (-5) 23.0%. The spin will start, newspapers will speculate and the party leaders will weigh up their choices, with talk of talks behind closed doors are already starting.
Overall, it looks like a struggled swing for the Conservatives, a deflating result for the Lib Dems and a fight for Labour to hold onto seats. By looking at Jeremy Vines magical Knightmare map and swingOmeter the results held no strong pattern that caused the Hung Parliament.
The next stories to expect, though the BBC said it might be 50 days till decisions are made.
Will Nick Clegg join with another party? (He's hinted at going for who gains the most seats/votes) Heard there's going to be a Clegg statement at 2.30 (tho it was from Boris on BBC)
Question to the politics geeks: If Clegg picks a party for coalition, and some of his party MPs are upset over the choice, could they stand down in protest?
Will Gordon Brown stay in power and form a coalition government or stand down to boost Labours negotiating chances?
Will David Cameron win over the Lib Dems or take chances of another election after a swing? Conservatives need 20 seats for the majority, according to the BBC.
Is another election headed for the UK? BBC pundit says this could be bad news for Cameron, if between that time they have to introduce tough decisions (assuming this means cuts)
On the up side, no BNP seats, yaaay. It's Conservative 305 (+97) 36.1%, Labour 258 (-91) 29.1% and Liberal Democrats... more

This weekend all three of the party leaders addressed an audience for Citizens UK, an event which is being called the 4th debate.
The group Citizens UK aims to help community organizations and "increase the power of congregations, trade unions, schools and community groups to participate in public life.". The event was a great place for the part leaders to perform and inform some of their parties social plans, with Citizens UK gaining a chance to propose more Government backing after the election.
