(November 11, 2010 –– Houston, TX)… A compelling story of patriotism warmed the nations heart this Veteran’s Day as Lt. Bob McGuffie received a remarkable amount of “support” in the form of $1.3 million. McGuffie, who’s a true American Hero despite his hatred of violence and rampant criticism of the motives behind America’s entrance into Middle Eastern conflicts, was overjoyed to know his service wasn’t wasted on trivial things like protecting American freedom(November 11, 2010 –– Houston, TX)… A compelling story of... more

The Rathburn family is as wholesome and American as apple pie! David and Ariana were separated a week after their first child was born; David was going to Iraq in December 2009, and in less than 3 weeks he will be home again. Though a year may not seem like a long time, for a newly married couple with a baby, it can be an eternity.
Young wives like Ariana keep in touch with their husbands through their laptops. Today's advancements in IT make it possible to not only talk, but see each other, and bring baby into the conversation as well. When you watch the video here, you will notice how difficult it is for Ariana to leave her baby at the USO Center while she attends a reunification conference. When she gets there, she is one of many wives who are also preparing to welcome back a loved one.The Rathburn family is as wholesome and American as apple pie! David and Ariana were... more

The last time Admiral Mike Mullen led a USO entertainment tour was in April 2010, as he was joined by three-time Emmy winner and former "Sopranos" star James Gandolfini, actress Rose McGowan, New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb and actor Tony Sirico. The group kicked off the tour at the NATO facility in Northern Kabul, April 2, 2010. The stars posed with troops for photographs, signed mementos, and kept everyone entertained during their seven-day tour.
This time, Admiral Mike Mullen will lead another group of celebrities for the 10th USO Winter Holiday Tour since the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff partnered with the organization in 2000.
At a time when most people enjoy their holidays surrounded by family members, our men and women in uniform will be far away from their homes. It becomes all the more important to support our troops by providing them with activities that will certainly lift their spirits. The last time Admiral Mike Mullen led a USO entertainment tour was in April 2010, as... more

Since everyone is at least a bit familiar with John McCain’s record when it comes to strolling through a market in Baghdad with hundreds of his closest guards, or how he wants to stay in Iraq for 100 years (except when he flip flops on that).
But not that many really, truly know just how horrific his voting record is when it comes to the troops. And it is pretty consistent – whether it is for armor and equipment, for veteran’s health care, for adequate troop rest or anything that actually, you know, supports our troops.

Hundreds of letters addressed to "Any Wounded Soldier," will not reach their destination for the holidays.
Since the 9/11 attacks and the anthrax scare the Pentagon and the U.S. Postal Service, have refused to deliver mail that is not to a specific person/soldier. Why? Fear of terrorist, toxic substances in the mail, and demoralizing messages.
Those who send out these letters to thank the soldiers for their service are pained by this rule.
How do you feel? Hundreds of letters addressed to "Any Wounded Soldier," will not reach... more

I am tired of people saying that they support the troops by placing a sticker on the back of there car.
They would never send there child into war nor would they consider joining the service thierself.
B 4 real and pay your taxes and stop asking for cuts in your tax return. PAY your taxes in a time of war.... that is how you support the troops.

Ok yes, so maybe enforcing longer leaves for soldiers was a backhanded way for the Democrats to force the president into involuntary troop reductions since fewer would be eligible by law to return to war zones. But the Republican party, by killing this bill, which would have guaranteed soldiers the same amount of time at home as they spent in a war zone, and by the President's hints of a veto of it, seem to have recast themselves as the "war" party, rather than the "military" party. If they really cared about the military and the effects this war is having on the families of service men and women, supporting this bill was a no brainer.Ok yes, so maybe enforcing longer leaves for soldiers was a backhanded way for the... more

Marine General Peter Pace is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, which means he is the country's highest ranking military officer. Pace has announced that he will be stepping down at the end of next month, and on his way out, apparently, he's going to tell President Bush that he thinks the number of U.S. troops in Iraq should be cut by about half. Pace, the Joint Chiefs, and Defense Secretary Robert Gates all feel that having so many troops in Iraq inhibits the country's ability to respond to other threats. The Joint Chiefs privately expressed concerns about the buildup before supporting the plan publicly.
But the White House and the U.S. commander in Iraq, Army General David Petraeus say it's necessary to maintain the buildup levels until further political gains can be made by the Iraqi government.
Although Pace is not filing a formal report and will be expressing his views to the President privately, his opinion will certainly add to the pressure on the administration for things like John Warner's proposal to start bringing troops at the end of the year.Marine General Peter Pace is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, which means he... more
