Call it the Victoria Beckham effect? London's Harley Medical Group has reported an astonishing 30 per cent rise in nipple surgery over the last 12 months.
Not only that, but a spokesperson for Bosomfriends.co.uk, a website dedicated to nipples prostheses announced they had recorded a “significant increase” in the sale of prosthetic nipples in the past year.
So what's going on? Victoria Beckham's recent pert appearance in a transparent black t-shirt ignited fresh speculation over whether her nipples are real or fake and it seems she might have launched a new trend.
'Until now celebrities didn't expose their nipples so they were no "nipple role models",' explains Dr Riccardo Frati, a cosmetic surgeon for the Harley Medical Group.
As shocking as it sounds, nipple surgery is becoming more accessible. 'Until recently, women didn't know they could alter the shape, colour and size of their nipples,' explains Dr Frati.
Nipple surgery - which can cost anything up to £2,000 if done privately - is an umbrella term for a wide spectrum of treatments. Nipple lifts involve creating several small flaps of skin around the actual nipple which will then push it up and out.
Asymmetrical nipples can be evened out and even the areola (the pigmented area around the nipple), can be tattooed if you are not happy with your nipple colour.
One of the most common procedures is the correction of inverted nipples - when the nipple is flat or concave and refuses to protrude or become erect on it's own. The condition can interfere with breastfeeding and is thought to affect around 1.5 million women in the UK.
Although to date the majority of nipple procedures are performed on post-mastectomy patients, cosmetic surgeons such as Dr Frati are seeing more and more women who simply want the operation for aesthetic reasons.
As with any surgery, there are risks involved and any woman considering such a procedure should consider all her options, even false silicone nipples, which at a cost of less than £5, are a lot cheaper - and a lot less shocking - than going under the knife.Call it the Victoria Beckham effect? Apparently Posh, er, Victoria Beckham is trying to make her WAG identity a thing of the past and her latest step is by shrinking her breast implants by a few cup sizes. She's decided that a 34DD rack isn't appropriate for an "upmarket fashion designer and mum of three." So she's gone back under the knife to get a comfortable 34B. Uhm, ouch? That seems like an awful lot of trauma to your body just for a few cup sizes. But apparently this isn't the first time she's redone her boobs... Oh, how I hope this isn't true. According to tabloid rumours Victoria Beckham, aka "Posh Space", aka "Still inexplicably famous" is going to be playing Lynn, Alan Partridges assistant in the upcoming Partridge film.
Right now anyone familiar with the TV series, "I'm Alan Partridge", will be wiping whatever they were drinking from their monitor. If you've ever seen the series, a comedy masterpiece, you'll know that Lynn is a dowdy 50 year old - so unless they pull no only a surprise, but an amazing amount of costume, make-up and CGI out of the bag, this is not a good omen for the film.
If this is true - and I do stress the word "if" out of my own desperation - my guess would be that whatever studio are producing the film have demanded that she star in it so they have a way to sell it to the American market. Sigh.

Posh and Becks theft scare David Beckham enraged after servants flog stolen clothes on eBay
Two of David and Victoria Beckham’s housekeepers will be in the running for stupid crooks of the year after they nicked clothes from the stars - and tried to flog them on eBay!
After working for the celebrity couple for ten years, greed clearly got the better of servants Eric (56) and June E. (55), who thought super rich Posh and Becks wouldn't notice expensive dresses, football kits and boots going missing.
But Victoria Beckham’s (33) parents, Tony and Jackie Adams, discovered the theft after seeing their son-in-law’s shoes on the auction website eBay. They immediately recognised the signatures on a pair of David Beckham's football boots – those of their grandchildren Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz.
Victoria’s parents went straight to the Beckham’s luxury estate near Sawbridgeworth to look for stolen items – but couldn’t find them, ‘The Sun’ reports,
Eric and June E. were arrested by police after investigators searched their house in Essex and discovered the clothes nicked from Beckingham Palace.
An insider said: “David and Victoria cannot believe it. They don’t know who they can trust anymore. David was beside himself with rage!’
The accused couple deny having had anything to do with the theft.

The Daily Mantra indulged in one of our guilty pleasures, hitting the Spice Girlsconcert at the Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles last night. It didn't escape our notice that the cheeky quintet had a dig at our dufus leader of the not-so-free world when they flashed up the words "Mission Accomplished" on their above stage video screen at the end of their final song "Spice Up Your Life." Certainly it can be argued that while Bush & Co. have failed miserably in bringing democracy to certain corners of the globe, Posh, Baby, Scary, Sporty and Ginger have succeeded in bringing their flavor to Spiceworld.
Posh may not be the best singer, Sporty may not have Posh's looks (but makes up for it with a voice that beats the rest), and Baby may have been carrying a few extra pounds of post-pregnancy fat but sang and danced like she didn't care (so neither did we). And that's the point. Instead of being a ubiquitous homogenized group, they celebrate their individuality, each bringing what they can to the table to create something very unique. It was refreshing to see a performance that didn't pimp the bump n' grind (Scary Mel B may have got saucy once or twice, but she wasn't baring her crotch like Beyoncé) or pander to the unhealthy consumerist bling-bling thing. They delivered a warm-hearted, family-friendly (honoring their kids and mom's with a cute video montage during "Mama"), well produced, fun-packed show. "People of the world, Spice up your life." Indeed.
